The Aitken Suite
The Aitken Suite, located within the Colin Weir Stand, will be open as a supporters’ bar for this game.
Open from 5pm to home and away supporters, the Suite is the perfect place to enjoy the build-up to another big game in the William Hill Championship!
Before kick-off there will be food on offer from Boss Catering and live sport being shown and the Suite will re-open again after the full-time whistle.
The Aitken Suite is a family-friendly supporters’ bar so children and family groups are very welcome.
Entry to the Aitken Suite is available through the main entrance of the Colin Weir Stand or via the door situated just a few yards further up Firhill Road.
Thistle Taxi
The Thistle Taxi will be at the Wyre Stadium at Firhill in the build-up to Friday’s game against Airdrieonians for use by any older or less able supporters, free of charge.
The distinctive red and yellow taxi will be taking supporters from the bottom of McParland Way to the Jackie Husband Stand Reception, starting at 6:15pm.
The Thistle Taxi, kindly provided by club sponsor Glasgow Taxis, can seat up to six people and will be making multiple trips ahead of kick off.
PlayerZone
As this is an evening game, there will be no PlayerZone after the match.
The PlayerZone is scheduled to return for our league fixture against Arbroath on 4th October.
Partick Thistle completed a second half comeback to defeat visitors Airdrieonians 2-1 thanks to goals from Dan O’Reilly and Alex Samuel. Samuel is the first Welshman to score for Thistle since Maurice Parry, who scored his only goal in a 3-2 defeat to Hamilton Academical in January of 1910.
Tonight’s victory sees Thistle level on points with St Johnstone, Raith Rovers, and Arbroath with 10.
Thistle came into tonight with no changes since 30th August’s win over Raith Rovers. New signing from St. Mirren Oisin Smyth was named on the bench whilst Zander Mackenzie had picked up a knock and was not a part of tonight’s proceedings.
The game kicked off after a minute’s applause remembering the legendary Jimmy Bone who sadly passed away last week. Bone famously scored Thistle’s fourth goal in that historic 4-1 win over Celtic in 1971.
It was Airdrie who had an early chance in the opening minute when they won a corner.
Ex-Jag Cole McKinnon opened the scoring for the visitors, following a second corner the ball fell to his feet from outside the box and his strongly hit shot found the back of the net to make it 1-0.
A few minutes later McKinnon had another go from outside the box but this time it sailed over the bar.
Tony Watt had a volley attempt go over the bar on minute 12. Seconds later there was appeals for handball from another ex jag Sean McGinty however the referee waved played on.
15 minutes in Logan Chalmers stood over a free kick outside the box, his cross found Watt’s head, but his effort was caught by Airdrie keeper Matthew Connelly.
Another penalty appeal was waved on when Aidan Fitzpatrick was brought down in the box following a corner.
The chances kept coming as O’Reilly’s header went over the bar from a further Chalmers corner. The same thing happened only two minutes later this time from Aidan Fitzpatrick’s cross.
Lewis McGrattan’s attempt from 25 yards out tested Josh Clarke who got a hand to it to send it out for a corner.
Ts’oanelo Lets’osa’s shot from inside the box was saved by Matthew Connelly. Tony Watt appeared to be brought down In the box, but the referee was having none of it. The last action of the half and Thistle went in trailing.

When the second half got underway Thistle were strong. Lets’osa cleverly won the ball back which Watt picked up, his pass to Robbie Crawford was successful until he was dispossessed before any chance could happen.
On minute 61, deadline day signing Smyth made his debut and shortly afterwards from an Airdrie corner the ball landed in front of Craig Ross whose attempt went over the bar.
A Chalmers attempt went wide and that was his last of the game as he came off for Steven Lawless.
From a corner Lee Ashcroft swung his head at the ball but not enough to challenge Connelly.
However on 77 minutes Aidan Fitzpatrick whipped in a corner which found the head of O’Reily who brought things level 1-1.
Looking to add another, multiple attempts were blocked but in the end Alex Samuel’s shot found the back of the net for his first goal in Thistle colours.
Paddy Reading cleared the ball off the line with two minutes to go. Mere minutes later Lewis Strapp’s attempt is headed away by the captain Lee Ashcroft.

It's not a game that will live long in the memory but Thistle show some real grit to emerge from this one with full points.
Behind to an early McKinnon goal, Thistle leave it late.
Dan O'Reilly heads an equaliser with just 13 minutes left before Alex Samuel's first Thistle goal seals the win five minutes remaining.

Moment of anxiety for Thistle as Reading, I think, is forced to head off the line.
Smyth cuts along the bye-line but Connelly collects his low cross.

Thistle are in front. Just after Lets'osa sees a shot blocked by the feet of Connelly, Turner has an effort blocked by a defender. The ball breaks to Samuel and he knocks the ball home.
O'Reilly has been the target at a few corners and he is again at this one. This time he is able to get a clean header at goal and Thistle are, finally, level.
Ashcroft's header is well off target.
Thistle have a free kick near the right corner of the Airdrie box.
A Turner free kick deep into the box goes into a good area and is begging for a touch that doesn't come.
Chalmers has a shot from an angle that doesn't trouble Connelly as it goes wide.
Half a chance for Airdrie at the corner but the ball goes over the bar.
Thistle fail to threaten from either of the two corners.
The second half is following a very similar pattern to that of the first. Nothing is coming off for Thistle at all. Wonder how long it will be until Mark Wilson turns to his bench.
Lets'osa bursts into the box from the right but takes the ball too far and out for a goal kick.

Nearly a chance for Crawford in front of goal but he is crowded out.
Back underway. No changes from either side.
McKinnon's goal after just 3 minutes sees Airdrie lead at the break.
Thistle have dominated but the quality simply hasn't been there. Lets'osa nearly equalised just on half time but was denied by an excellent save from Connelly.
It's going to have to be better from Thistle in the second half.

Into added time. The 4th official held up the board which displayed no number.
Chalmers' corner drifts over everyone's heads and out for a goal kick.
Thistle clear the corner but Airdrie pick the ball up again. The ball eventually goes out for a Thistle throw but play is being played in the half Thistle don't want it to be.
O'Reilly again the target from the corner. Under pressure he sees his header loop over the bar. The pressure is mounting but not the chances.
O'Reilly attacks Chalmers' corner at the back post. His header looks to take a deflection as it goes wide but goal kick is the decision.
Chalmers goes deep with his corner. It's headed back into the box but it drifts out of play for a goal kick.
McGinty has hold of Watt's shirt as Watt tries to cut into the box but there is no free kick.
Chalmers lifts the free kick into the box. Watt is able to get his head to the ball but there isn't enough power in his header to truly trouble Connelly. It's getting better from Thistle all the same.
Crawford is fouled and Thistle have a free kick deep inside the Airdrie half.
Watt again is able to get the wrong side of McGinty. The Airdrie defender clears although there are appeals that he uses a hand while doing so.
Watt gets round the back of McGinty and has a shot as the ball drops but it goes over the bar.
The ball falls again to McKinnon at the edge of the Thistle box. This time though he can't keep the ball down and it clears the bar.
Thistle have been rocked a bit by that early goal. Some good play from McPherson offers the hope of a chance but his pass looking for Chalmers is overhit.
The corner is cleared only as far as McKinnon at the edge of the box and he bullets a shot past Clarke.

Thistle get the game underway and are shooting towards the John Lambie Stand in the first half.
It's Friday night under the Firhill floodlights for the first time this season with the visit of our old friends from Airdrie.
Thistle Head Coach Mark Wilson has understandably kept faith with the side that was enjoying a good run of form before international call-ups meant a weekend off last week.
The only change from the 20 selected for the Raith Rovers match is on the bench where new signing Oisin Smyth comes in and he replaces Zander MacKenzie.
