It might not have been pretty at times and was the very definition of grinding out a win but at this stage of the season it doesn't matter how you get the win just as long as you win. 

Against a Clyde side that didn't exhibit any apparent ambition to do anything other than frustrate Thistle it took until the 65th minute for sub Zak Rudden to convert a Tiffoney cross to put Thistle 1-0 up. 

With a narrow lead Thistle were, on occasion, required to defend but the win and the points were secured in the 89th minute when Rudden claimed his secod of the night in emphatic fashion,

It's a peach from Rudden that will clinch the points for Thstle. A cross comes over from Graham, Rudden takes a touch before firing a powerful shot past Wilson and high into the net. 

Graham knocks the ball on for Rudden to chase but the flag goes up for offside. 

Thistle have a throw down by the Clyde corner flag. 

Bannigan takes the free kick and Graham glances a header wide of the right hand post. 

Tiffoney has his heels clipped and Thistle have a free kick wide on the left.

The second of Lamont's two corners is cleared although Clyde remain firmly on the front foot and Thistle goal under some pressure until Foster steps in to clear. 

Cardle tries his luck from a yard or so outside the Clyde box that is just over the crossbar. 

There is a hint of a chance for Goodwillie and he is precisely the player that Thistle want to give any hint of an opportunity to. Fortunately this time his shot flashes wide of goal. A reminder all the same that this game is far from won. 

Rudden finds room for a cross from the left that is a shade too high for Graham. 

Cardle takes this corner and Docherty sends a header towards goal that is cleared. 

Tiffoney's pace again gets him clear of the Clyde defence but he delays his cross and has to settle for a corner. 

The game is much more open now that Thistle have the lead and they don't look entirely comfortable as they are asked to defend for just about the first time in the game. 

Thistle miss a great chance to double their lead. Rudden is on the end of a long ball. Wilson commits himself and Rudden gets past him but out wide. He passes to Cardle whose shot is saved by Wilson who gets back to his goal line in time. 

McNiff heads the corner towards the Thistle goal but Sneddon takes charge with a confident catch. 

Jack's free kick is a good one and Sneddon gets a touch to take it round the post for a corner. 

Docherty's challenge on Goodwillie earns the Thistle captain a booking and Clyde a free kick in a dangerous position. 

It's been a long time in the waiting but Thistle finally have the lead. It's Tiffoneys quick turn of pace near the bye line that creates the opening. He fires over a low cross that Rudden knocks over the line from close range. 

Williamson looks to have got the better of Otoo on the bye line but the assistant raises his flag for a goal kick. 

That's a better cross from Foster but it cleared ahead of Graham. 

Foster's cross from the left is far too deep as frustration increases. 

McNiff knocks Love's corner wide of goal. He wants a second corner but a goal kick is awarded. 

McNiff is booked for time wasting as Clyde delay taking a free kick deep inside their own half. 

There is a change in taker this time with Bannigan entrusted with the corner. It's a poor corner though and hit low but it nearly produces a chance in front of goal. 

Murray shoots from the edge of the box. His shot is half blocked which takes all the pace off it and Wilson makes an easy save. 

Graham makes a front post run to try and flick Cardle's low corner towards goal as Thistle again fail to create an opening from a corner. 

Sneddon clutches a dangerous cross from the Clyde left. 

Graham's header from Cardle's corner drops wide of goal. 

Thistle have dominated almost the entirety of the game so far but have been frustrated by a resolute Clyde defence and haven't created anything like enough clear cut opportunities. 

Thistle can't make anything from the corner. 

Another cross comes over from Cardle but Wilson again claims confidently. 

Clever play from Tiffoney gets Thistle forward and McKenna picks up the ball. He has Cardle available to his right but elects to push forward himself and his control of the ball lets him down. 

Thistle have to build again after Cardle's corner is cleared. Foster sends a cross into the box and although Graham thumps a loose ball into the net the whistle had already gone for an obvious Brownlie foul on Wilson. 

Excellent play from Tiffoney takes him deep into the Clyde half. He finds Graham to his left but his low shot doesn't have the power to beat Wilson. 

McKenna lifts a cross over from the right and Graham's header goes over. Graham clearly thinks there was a deflection and his protests earn him a lecture from the referee. 

Foster's cross is headed clear. 

Good tracking back from Cardle sees him whip the ball away from the toes of an advancing Love. 

Tiffoney does really well on the left hand side of Clyde box until his final cross for Graham that is too long and too high. There is a pleasing tempo to Thistle's play but no clear cut chances yet. 

Cardle at the heart of things again but his low ball into the box can't find Graham. 

A raised foot earns Bannigan the game's first yellow card.

Cardle finds McKenna to his right and McKenna is unlucky not to find the head of Graham with his cross. 

Cardle does well on the right and lifts over a cross to Graham at the back post but Graham's knock down doesn't find a teammate. 

Cardle is able to find a pocket of space for himself just outside the Clyde box but drags his left foot shot wide of goal. Starting to see hints of Thistle starting to take a grip on the game. 

Tiffoney's pace gets him in behind the Clyde defence but out wide he can't get the ball over to Graham and Thistle have to settle for an unproductive corner kick. 

It's a poor corner from Cardle that swings out of play. That's in keeping with the scrappy start to the game. 

Docherty's long ball forward finds Tiffoney wide on the right. Down by the corner flag he twists his way past a defender and fires over a cross that Wilson is happy to grab hold of. 

Clyde kick the game off. Thistle will be shooting towards the John Lambie Stand in the first 45 minutes. 

After a confident display and a good win at Peterhead on Saturday Ian McCall has said same again for this evening's fixture, the first of a midweek double header, with Clyde selecting the exact same starting eleven. 

The only solitary change comes on the substitute bench where Andrew Rodden replaces James Penrice. 

With just two more games to play before the split after tonight the importance of, firstly, of securing a top half finish and secondly putting pressure on the two sides above us can't be underestimated. Three Thistle points this evening are therefore essential.
