91’Full Time Report

As comfortable a win as you are likely to see.

Thistle bounce back from defeat last week in the perfect fashion with a five goal display against Queen's Park.

91’Full Time
90’Goal Thistle! Luke McBeth
Thistle 5 - Queen's Park 0

There is time for one more. The ball is crossed to the back post where Luke McBeth nods home.

90’Thistle corner from the right
89’Thistle corner from the right

Time for one more?

87’

Man of the Match: Paddy Reading.

87’

Smyth is close but his shot from the edge of the box is just a shade too high.

86’

McBeth charges forward but scoops his effort over the bar.

84’

Nearly a fifth for Thistle. Clever foot work from McArdle gives him a chance but his shot  is blocked. It breaks to Turner and he sees his shot pushed away by Ferrie.

84’

Thistle win a free kick wide on the right.

82’Queen's Park substitution: Josiah Sowa replaces Grant Savoury
82’Queen's Park substitution: Ricky Waugh replaces Josh Fowler
78’Thistle substitution: Cameron Logan replaces Ben McPherson
78’Thistle substitution: Sean McArdle replaces Ts'oanelo Lets'osa
77’Goal Thistle! Ts'oanelo Lets'osa
Thistle 4 - Queen's Park 0

Chalmers returns the favour for Lets'osa as he crosses from the left for Lets'osa to lift the ball high into the net. Scoring for the second home game in a row.

73’Goal Thistle! Logan Chalmers
Thistle 3 - Queen's Park 0

It's not as spectacular as the previous two but in a different way it's every bit as good.

Samuel feeds the ball through to Lets'osa and his cross is perfect for Chalmers to fire into the net.

72’Thistle corner from the left

Ferrie gets a hand to a Turner shot and that is enough to get it behind for a corner.

68’

Chalmers has gone over to the left hand side.

67’Thistle substitution: Alex Samuel replaces Tony Watt
67’Thistle substitution: Steven Lawless replaces Aidan Fitzpatrick

66’

QP and McDonnell are close again. Turner gets his head to Longridge's corner but only as far as McDonnell who smacks a shot off the Thistle crossbar.

65’Queen's Park corner from the right

It's careless from Thistle and Clarke has to tip over a McDonnell effort.

64’

Crowd; 3,370.

63’

Friel finds Savoury to his left. It's a tame effort though from Savoury and it is an easy save for Clarke.

61’Queen's Park substitution: Tyrece McDonnell replaces Sebastian Drozd
61’Queen's Park substitution: Darryl Carrick replaces Ross McLean

59’

Watt doesn't miss target by much with a volley from 12 yards.

59’

Fitzpatrick's fierce shot is pushed away by Ferrie.

56’

McPherson sends a shot over the Queen's Park crossbar.

53’

A well timed challenge from O'Reilly halts the progress of Drozd.

52’

This time QP clear and break through Fowler before Reading sticks out a foot to win the ball.

51’Thistle corner from the right

Thistle so close to a second. The corner is cleared only as far as Turner at the edge of the box. His shot is blocked before spinning into the path of Watt. He takes a great touch before setting up Turner again who this time is denied by the crossbar.

50’Thistle corner from the right

50’

A cross field pass from Smyth finds Chalmers on the right. He gets into the box but his cross is cleared.

49’

Fitzpatrick's corner goes deep. O'Reilly is able to get a head to it but his header isn't threatening the QP goal.

48’Thistle corner from the left

Thistle's first corner of the afternoon.

47’

Watt plays a pass through to Lets'osa. He breezes past his marker as if he isn't there but his cross is scrambled clear.

45’Thistle substitution: Kyle Turner replaces Ben Stanway

Half-time change. Stanway clearly not recovered from that knock picked up shortly before half-time. What a way to sign off your afternoon though from the Thistle no. 26.

45’Kick-Off (2nd half)
45’+12’Half Time Report

You will struggle to see two better goals that the two that Thistle scored in the first half of this match.

Paddy Reading firing Thistle in front before Ben Stanway doubled that lead deep into injury time.

That there was so much injury time was due to an unfortunate injury to Queen's Park Charlie Fox and we wish Charlie a speedy recovery.

45’+11’Half-Time
45’+10’Goal Thistle! Ben Stanway
Thistle 2 - Queen's Park 0

Ben Stanway and Paddy Reading are having their very own Goal of the Season competition.

What an strike that is from Stanway that leaves Ferrie grasping at air.

45’+09’

Clarke gathers as Murray's header drops towards him.

45’+09’

Queen's win a free kick inside the Thistle half and will get the chance to get players forward as we near half-time.

45’+06’

Another break in play as Stanway receives a spot of treatment.

45’+02’Thistle Booking - Luke McBeth

45’

Into added time. We're going to be looking at about ten minutes of that.

43’Queen's Park Booking - Ross McLean

McBeth heads clear and Fitzpatrick is fouled as he tries to start a Thistle counter attack.

43’Queen's Park corner from the left
42’Queen's Park corner from the right

Clarke has to push a teasing cross round his post for a corner.

40’

McPherson's low cross is cleared.

35’Queen's Park Booking - Rocco Friel

Fitzpatrick is caught late and Thistle have a free kick wide on the left.

33’

Back underway.

32’

Biblical like rain as we wait to get going again.

31’Queen's Park substitution: Rocco Friel replaces Charlie Fox

23’

Watt wins the ball from Fox but immediately notices that the Queen's defender is in some pain and is signalling for the physio to come on even though play is continuing with Thistle on the attack.

22’

Just for a second it looks on for another Chalmers cracker as he cuts across the edge of the box but on this occasion he gets his final shot all wrong.

20’

McBeth shoots from outside the box but Ferrie makes a comfortable save.

18’

QP play the free kick to Drozd in a central position and from outside the box he skies the ball high over the bar.

17’Thistle Booking - Ben McPherson

McPherson barges McLean off the ball. A free kick for sure, near the left corner of the Thistle box, but a softish yellow card.

15’Goal Thistle! Paddy Reading
Thistle 1 - Queen's Park 0

Wow. What a hit. It's too far out for a direct effort at goal but not too far out for Reading to fire a magnificent effort past Ferrie.

The free kick is played to the edge of the box where it is touched back to Reading and bang the ball is in the bottom corner of the net.

14’

Thistle have a free kick about 35 yards from goal. Slightly to the left and a shade too far for a direct effort at goal.

12’

Big save from Clarke. Fowler wins the ball deep for QP, skips past McPherson and advances down the left. he slips a pass through for McLean who, from an angle, only has Clarke to beat. The keeper though makes himself a big target to beat and blocks the shot.

05’

Fitzpatrick tries a shot from outside the box but he is off balance as he hits it and the ball goes high over the bar. Positive start from Thistle all the same.

01’

Fitzpatrick plays a lovely pass up to the feet of Watt. He turns quickly towards goal but sees his shot blocked.

00’

QP kick the game off. Thistle shooting towards the John Lambie Stand in the first half.

00’Kick-Off

00’Introduction

On an afternoon of sunshine and showers Thistle are looking to get back to winning ways with a home game against Queen's Park.

Head Coach Mark Wilson has given a vote of confidence to the team that started at Raith Rovers 7 days ago by fielding an unchanged starting eleven from that match.

There is a return from injury for Alex Samuel, who starts on the bench, but Lee Ashcroft and Robbie Crawford remain on the sidelines.

Match Report

Partick Thistle v Queen’s Park – 1st November 2025

Partick Thistle showed that the ‘West End is the Best End’ as they took the honours in the Glasgow Derby with Queen’s Park at The Wyre Stadium at Firhill with a 5-0 scoreline.

The Jags’ starting XI was the same as the one that started last week at Kirkcaldy however there were changes on the bench with Alex Samuel available after injury and Che Campbell taking a place for the first time in the William Hill Championship this season.

The visitors kicked off and after an early foray towards the home goal it was Thistle that created the first chance when the ball was slipped to Tony Watt who turned and hit a shot goalward only for his effort to be blocked.

Aidan Fitzpatrick was the next to have an attempt however his seventh minute effort to find the far corner flashed wide.

Seven Wealth Player of the Month for October Oisin Smyth caught the eye in the opening ten minutes with a mix of clever passing and deft flicks however they did not lead to an attack on the Queen’s Park goal.

With quarter of an hour played Smith found Fitzpatrick on the left and he slipped a ball across for Watt who teed up Ben Stanway with Charlie Fox sliding into block.

The opening goal was only delayed a minute and what a goal it was. A training ground move free-kick was knocked forward to Stanway on the 18 yard line and he touched the ball back to PADDY READING some 25 yards out and he sent first time left foot shot rocketing low into the net.

After Chalmers had sent an effort wide the game was halted by referee Graham at the insistence of Watt after visiting defender Charlie Fox collapsed at the side of the pitch in obvious discomfort. Play was stopped for several minutes to allow Fox to receive treatment before the big Englishman was stretchered off to applause from both sets of fans.

The game restarted with both sets of players required to refocus with Fox’s replacement, Rocco Friel, cautioned quickly for a trip on Fitzpatrick.

Josh Clarke showed that he was very much alert on 42 minutes as he leapt to his left to tip away a Ross McLean cross that was in danger of sneaking in at the far post with McLean’s next involvement seeing him pick up a yellow card for fouling Smyth after he looked to break.

Luke McBeth was next in the book for a challenge on Josh Fowler with most fans in the ground perplexed that a challenge on Smyth had gone unpunished seconds earlier.

Logan Chalmers looked to have unlocked the Spiders defence in added on time with a diagonal pass from right to left only for Calum Ferrie to race out of his penalty box to clear.

Ten minutes into added on time Thistle grabbed a second and it was every bit as special as the first. Watt won the ball just inside the visitors’ half and moved forward before passing to Fitzpatrick who carried on up the pitch before the ball was slipped to STANWAY.

The Thistle midfielder had options on his right and left however he looked up and curled home a 20-yarder high past Ferrie to double Thistle’s lead.

Half-time – Partick Thistle 2 Queen’s Park 0

That was to be Stanway’s last involvement as he replaced by Kyle Turner at the start of a second half that nearly saw Ts’oanelo Lets’osa add a third within seconds however Ferrie got down low to save.

Turner came within inches of scoring on 50 minutes when Watt delicately created space for a cross that the replacement met six yards out with the only combination of Ferrie and the bar denying him.

McPherson looked to emulate his full-back partner Reading by scoring from distance on 55 minutes however his 25-yard effort failed to find the target.

As Partick Thistle looked again to move further in front Watt looped in a 20 yard that just went over.

On 65 minutes Clarke showed that his concentration was still spot-on as he rose to tip over an effort from the edge of the box from Tyrece McDonell with the visiting substitute out of luck again seconds later as another long-range effort smacked off the cross bar.

Ferrie had to move to his right to dive and push away a Turner drive and then the shot-stopper denied substitute Alex Samuel in a similar manner to Turner as he pushed his header onto the bar.

Just as the hosts were beginning to think a third was not coming it arrived and a fourth did shortly afterwards.

On 72 minutes Lets’osa skipped free on the right-hand side of the Queen’s Park box and rolled the perfect ball across the six-yard line for CHALMERS to side-foot home to secure the points.

Three minutes later the duo combined again to score a symmetrical goal with Chalmers bearing down the left and picking out LETS’OSA who knocked it over the line for a fourth.

Thistle did not settle for four with Ferrie denying Turner for the umpteenth time with a diving save and then McBeth rode through four challenges to get a view of goal only to see his parting shot go off target.

A fifth did arrive with last touch of the ball as McBETH got his goal when he rose to nod in a Stevie Lawless cross following a corner.
