💻️Highlights and reaction post match
Celtic have had a great season so far as they sit 2nd in the table with 62 points, just a single point off Rangers in top position. New gaffer Elena Sadiku will be hoping for a repeat of her last victory over the Jags having won comfortably at the beginning of March.
Celtic’s squad has many talented individuals who could all impact the game in a number of ways. Caitlin Hayes has a history of scoring against the Jags and the Republic of Ireland international will be hoping to repeat her form against Thistle come Sunday. Natasha Flint made her return to Celtic in January having had a fruitful loan spell last season and has picked up where she left off by scoring numerous times since she rejoined the club.
There are many others who possess a threat within the Celtic lineup and, while it is impressive how they have adapted to their new manager’s style of play, it will be up to our girls to stop them gaining another 3 points in their Glasgow Derby.
We welcomed Hearts to Petershill knowing it would once again be a tough fixture. Having lost just 1-0 in our Scottish Cup quarter final a few weeks beforehand, we knew the dangers they would have.
The Jags were unfortunate to miss a few players as well with Aimee Anderson and Shona Cowan both ineligible having been on loan from the Edinburgh outfit while our skipper Demi Falconer was forced out due to injury.
Hearts were firm at the back for most of the match and our Jags struggled to create any chances. Danni Findlay would ultimately give Hearts a 1-0 lead before halftime while Kathleen McGovern, recently back from injury, scored a brace in the second half to grant the visitors all 3 points and further the gap between the sides to 7 points. A tough day at the office but one we are eager to put behind us and move on from following the international break.
Strong followings from the Red and yellow army have helped our girls out a lot this season. It would be great to see as many of you as possible for this Glasgow Derby to help make Petershill a fortress.
The international break has allowed for a well deserved rest having had such a tightly packed schedule for the girls.
Jenna Ferguson and Ava Easdon were away with the Scotland u19s and kept 3 clean sheets. Jenna is in contention to return to the squad for this tie however Ava Easdon will miss out after returning to Glasgow City on an emergency recall . Aimee Anderson could also return having been ineligible against Hearts.
With that being said, it will be up to the gaffer and the rest of the management team to field their best possible side heading into this fixture as we welcome Celtic for a Glasgow derby.
