Stranraer are taking the ball to the corners of the pitch as Thistle press them relentlessly. A soft foul is given and Okoh and Turner take it to the corner flag

Wallace's effort is deflected over for a corner

Another flowing move from the Jags but they can't quite get the ball into the box for a potent strike

A header flashes past the post from the corner

What a tackle from Lee Duncanson. Agnew is clean in the box and looks set to double the lead but the Jags number two makes a brilliant block

Good end to end play in the game as McCarthy carries the ball forward before Thistle attack. Stranraer hit right back but Woods has an effort straight at Sneddon. 

20 minutes to go for the Jags to get back in this tie. 

Callum Wilson knocks the ball down for Mark Lamont who fires the ball over the bar.

Thistle break with great skill and pace. McLaughlin plays it inside to Lamont. He plays it wide to Nisbet, who dummies for Fitzpatrick. His effort is blocked by a defender.

Turner tries an ambitious effort which is high and over the bar. 

Thistle have settled into the second half and are starting to pass it about again but Stranraer are exerting their physical style.

An excellent tackle from Penrice stops a Stranraer attack and sets Thistle away. Nisbet pokes it into the goalkeepers arms

The corner is pushed around the Jags box before McCarthy brings it out for a Jags counter. 

Duncanson is almost punished for a slack error. Woods squares the ball but only a magnificent save from Sneddon keepers the Jags one goal down

Wallace toe bashes it towards goal, under the wall but it is easy enough for Sneddon to deal with. 

McCarthy fouls Agnew 25 yards out in a central position. 

Thistle break up the park and the ball falls perfectly for Nisbet. His effort is blocked by Hamill as the goalkeeper flies along his line. Nisbet whips the cross into the box before the home side clear.

Woods cuts in from the left hand side and forces a good save from Sneddon

A cross from the left is met by Wallace and he is able to poke the ball home from inside the box.

More good link up play from Thistle as the Jags press for the opener.

A cross field pass causes carnage in the Jags box. It's cleared away from goal before being pushed wide of target by a Stranraer attacker. 

It goes deep to the back post before Neill cuts it back for Agnew to head inches wide of target.

Thistle are confidently spraying the ball about the park trying to build attacks. 

The pace of Stokes is proving to be a good outlet for the Jags

The corner bounces around the box before Agnew forces Sneddon into a low save. 

Lamont's free kick is cleared to Nisbet at the edge of the box and he fires a shot inches wide of target. 

Callum WIlson is being fouled by a couple of Stranraer players but evades the challenge. The referee blows for a foul rather than letting him progress into the penalty box.

Belford dallies on the ball and is forced to boot it out for a throw when put under severe pressure from James Stokes.

Thistle start well, looking composed on the ball. Wallace has the first cross from the home side but his cross drifts out for a goal kick

Kevin Nisbet gets the second round tie underway. 

We're at Stair Park for tonight's Irn Bru Cup tie against League One side Stranraer. 

The Jags Colt side line up in the usual 4-2-3-1 formation but it will be Andrew McCarthy and James Penrice at centre half this evening. Antony Eadie and Callum Wilson will form the base of the Jags midfield with James Stokes, Mark Lamont and Neil McLaughlin supporting striker Kevin Nisbet. 

The Young Jags will take confidence from the tie against Queen's Park last season where the ten men Thistle side were only defeated by penalty kicks. 

A place in the third round awaits. Will it be Thistle or Stranraer who prevail?
