Cowdenbeath v Partick Thistle – 26th February 2013

After two previous attempts to stage this fixture were beaten by the weather all looks set for third time lucky at Central Park tomorrow night.
It’s a big game for both sides. Victory for the home side would see them climb above Hamilton in the league table, albeit with two games more played, into 7th position in the First Division.
From our own perspective, victory would allow us to close the gap at the top of the league to just two points.
An extremely tough fixture, therefore, is in prospect tomorrow night.
Said Alan Archibald when speaking to [link:HOME];

“We may have won our previous meetings with Cowdenbeath this season but on each occasion the winning margin was just a single goal. We are expecting a similarly tough match tomorrow night. It’s a tight park at Cowdenbeath and we will need to make sure that we are switched on properly at free kicks and throw ins. That’s something that we have talked about and should be something that we are prepared for. Cowdenbeath need the points just as we do and they have the front players that will carry a real threat”
Alan continued;
“It will be important too that we start the game well with a good tempo and show patience if required.  We did that against both Hamilton and Airdrie United.”
Tomorrow’s game is the first of two trips we will make to Fife this week and no Thistle fan really needs any reminding that two wins would take us back to the top of the league. Alan though is looking no further ahead than tomorrow’s game.
“The players know that there is a big incentive to win tomorrow’s game. They know that a victory would set us up with the chance to go top of the league at East End Park on Saturday. That’s only going to happen though if we win tomorrow and that’s what makes tomorrow’s game such a massive game for us.”
Going into the game Alan has virtually a full squad to select from, although one player will unfortunately miss out.
“Paul Paton is going to miss this game unfortunately. Paul was going to miss Saturday’s game at Dunfermline through suspension anyway and that I suppose does allow him time to recover from the injury he picked up against Airdrie United on Saturday. On the plus side we’ve got Hugh Murray that could come into the team tomorrow night. Aside from Paul’s injury everyone is fit for tomorrow night’s game.”
