Inverness CT v Partick Thistle – 13th December 2014

It was an optimistic Alan Archibald who spoke to ptfc.co.uk ahead of the weekend’s tie away to Inverness.

“It felt like two points dropped at the weekend when we played Kilmarnock, it’s a home game and one we really should have been taking three points from. Having said that we’re looking to go to the Highlands for a win and start to eat away at that gap between ourselves and the top six – it’s certainly not a gap we want getting any bigger.

“Inverness are a real model for clubs like Thistle. The way they have come up and established themselves as a top six club is very impressive. They’ve also changed their style of play in a big way in the last 12 months or so and John Hughes has clearly done a great job.

“I know from personal experience that it is difficult to go into a team that is doing well as a new manager. Obviously John came in after Terry and the club were absolutely flying. For John to come in and change the mentality and the way they play their football and still get results is very impressive.

“It’s a team filled with pros. You just have to look at the business they did over the summer – or lack of I should say. He went through the whole summer and I think only signed one new player, that’s a sure fire sign that they have a very good bunch of boys.

“There’s no doubt it will be a challenge going up there, it always is, but we can go up there off the back of a couple of decent performances and the team is in confident mood.

“The last few times we’ve played Inverness they’ve been right good games. We’re two teams who like to get the ball down and play and that’s usually conducive to a good game for the fans. Having said that, no matter how good the game is, it is a very long journey back if you lose so here’s hoping we do the business and come away with the three points!”
