🆚 Our Opponents: Aberdeen

Aberdeen come into this fixture in mixed form. Since they won at Petershill at the end of March, they’ve only picked up 4 from a possible 12. They drew on Wednesday against Spartans in Edinburgh and will be looking to take the positives from that game into this game.

Aberdeen play a very direct style under Scott Booth and look to use the wide flanks as much as they can. Jessica Broadrick typically dictates the play from the heart of a back three and Thistle will need to be wary of the long ball threats that Toni Leigh Finnegan and Francesca Ogilvie posses.

Thistle have enjoyed some good results against Aberdeen in recent seasons. A memorable 4-3 victory at Petershill en route to our first top 6 finish stands out amongst that bunch and we’ll look to grab another victory here and look to extend our gap in 7th.

📈Thistle so far

Thistle welcomed Dundee United to Petershill during the week and knew it would be a feisty matchup. Having lost a number of key players to injury in the reverse fixture a few weeks prior, tensions were high.

A strong Thistle side was named despite the injury struggles and seen some players fit into new roles such as Georgia Gray who played further up having been a traditional holding midfielder.

Thistle took control of the game early on, testing Beth Rennie in net with a few teasing strikes that the keeper did well to save. Tiree Burchill had the chance of the first half but was unable to convert from close range to give her a fourth in as many games.

The second half again saw Thistle take control and put pressure on Dundee United. The chances eventually paid off as Tiree Burchill managed to drop it back to Ellie Kane who put it past Rennie to give the opener and her first goal in red and yellow. Some more strikes nearly found the back of the net but Beth Rennie made a number of wonder saves. Rosie Slater was unlucky not to find the top corner after a great corner routine while Olivia King nearly struck a rocket into the goal from distance. The game ended 1 0 and secured another victory for the Jags, making it 3 clean sheets in a row and a record breaking unbeaten month.

Strong Followings from the Red and Yellow army have helped our girls massively. We would love to see as many of you make this journey on the road and help our girls bring a result back to Glasgow.

🗞 Team News

Olivia King was forced off in the closing stages of the Aberdeen game and faces a late fitness test for this one. Carla Boyce found some minutes against Dundee United after returning from injury so could see some more here.

With that being said, it will be up to the gaffer and the rest of the management team to field the best possible side heading into this fixture with a game against Aberdeen
