MATCH PREVIEW: Dundee United (H)

This Sunday 2nd October, PTWFC take on Dundee United Women at Petershill for a 13:00 kick off.

Thistle are off the back of a 2-0 loss against Celtic Women in the Sky Sports Cup last weekend at Petershill in a tough game, Brian Graham’s women can hold their heads’ high after an impressive showing against the holders and will take confidence from their performance as they welcome Dundee United in our next SWPL1 match.

Having won their first league game in a convincing manner in their last SWPL1 match, the girls will be hoping they can bring their shooting boots out once more against the Tangerines.

A win for Brian Graham’s side would certainly provide a boost as we look to gather momentum within the SWPL.

🆚 Our Opponents: Dundee United

Dundee United have had a decent start to their season thus far, picking up 7 points from a possible 18.

Gaining victories over Hamilton and Glasgow Women, like ourselves, Dundee United currently lie in 6th place in the SWPL1, 4 places and 2 points above the Jags.

Following their promotion last season, they lie midtable, yet, that could all change come Sunday afternoon.

Whilst the tangerines have no former jags within their squad, and vice versa, current United defender Eve Donald featured as a trialist for the Jags during pre-season before ultimately signing for the Dundee side.

📈Thistle so far

A tough loss against Celtic, yet plenty of positives can only spell out good signs for Brian Graham’s team as they look to move forward. There have been a lot of benefits to take so far however, giving Celtic a challenging game twice this season as well as our previous and convincing 8-1 thrashing of Glasgow Women.

Strong home followings from the Red and Yellow Army so far this season have helped our girls immensely, and hopefully more of the Thistle faithful come along to support their Jags this Sunday at Petershill.

🗞 Team News

Brian Graham has an almost full squad to choose from with only defender Taylor McGlashan missing out with an ongoing ankle injury. Graham will look to make full use of all his options heading into the match on Sunday. Hopefully another strong showing from the girls and they can gain all 3 points.

Back following their ineligibility against their parent club, Abbie Ferguson, coming off her goal against Glasgow Women, and Charlotte Terry have been working hard in training and are raring to go against Dundee United.
