🆚 Our Opponents: Dundee United

Dundee United have had a difficult start to their season as they sit bottom of the table having survived the playoffs last season.

Dundee United lost a lot of their key players from last season with Georgie Robb and Rachel Todd moving to Motherwell while several players opted for a move to Aberdeen such as Megan Sidey and Johan Fraser.

Moves for Sophie Timlin and Amilie Martindale have bolstered the squad yet results haven’t gone the Arab’s way with a 1-1 draw against Aberdeen being their only point of the season.

📈Thistle so far

Thistle’s matchup against Celtic was always going to be difficult. Having lost key player and top scorer Emma Lawton to Celtic just days beforehand, it was already an uphill battle for the Jags.

The game did not start in a good manner for Thistle as Shannon McGregor opened the scoring for the champions after just one minute as she latched onto a loose ball. Murphy Agnew doubled the Hoops’ advantage after 30 minutes as the half ended 2-0.

Thistle attempted to get back into the match however with Carla Boyce and Hannah Robinson having chances while Claire Docherty and Caley Gibb, occupying the right back position left by Lawton, also attempted to make chances down the flanks. Ultimately, McGregor shot from distance after capitalising on a loose ball from Jeni Currie and made it 3-0 to Celtic.

A lot of positives to be taken from the match, none more than the return to action for Cheryl McCulloch who made her first appearance for Thistle in 18 months. Jags and Celtic supporters alike welcomed the return of our number 4 as she overcame her ACL injury to return.

Strong Followings from the Red and Yellow army helped our girls massively last season, and we enjoyed an away day to Dundee in November last year. We’d love for as many Jags fans to make the trip out as possible for this matchup.

🗞 Team News

Cheryl McCulloch made her return to action and could look to gain some more valuable minutes in this game. Kodie Hay and Courtney Stewart remain out with their respective injuries.

With that being said, it will be up to the gaffer and the rest of the management team to field the best possible side heading into this fixture with a game against Dundee United.
