🆚 Our Opponents: Hibernian

Hibs have had a good season sitting 5th in the SWPL on 42 points, 4 points and place above the Jags in 6th.

We know how good Grant Scott’s side can be when they turn up and the capability they have. Jorian Baucom has found herself nominated for the SWPL1 Player of the Season after her quality debut campaign in the capital while Grant Scott himself has earned a nomination for Manager of the Year, much like our gaffer Brian Graham.

In terms of club links, Abbie Ferguson enjoyed a fruitful loan spell last season with us and has had a fantastic season with the Edinburgh outfit this season. Stewart Hall made the switch to the capital this time last year and has been a key part of the Hibernian backroom since.

Our last meeting with Hibs ended in a 2-0 defeat for the Jags, who played a much rotated lineup ahead of the cup final the following week.

📈Thistle so far

We welcomed Rangers to Petershill Park for our 3rd match in the space of a week. A difficult week for the club but one with a lot of learning experiences, our girls were fired up having been defeated in the cup final a month earlier.

Thistle looked sharp, getting the first real chance of the first half as Rachel Donaldson couldn’t repeat her heroics from Tynecastle and instead struck the ball right at Esson. Rangers used their wide areas very well, often unleashing McAuley and Arnot down either flank while McLoughlin dictated play in the middle alongside Cornet. Some great defensive displays and fantastic goalkeeping from Ava Easdon allowed Thistle to make the halftime whistle goalless.

Rangers would eventually take the lead in the second half as Kirsty Howat latched on to a loose ball and hit it into the top corner to put the blue side ahead. Imogen Longcake however used her lightning pace to make the end of a long ball and a slip from Esson gave the forward a goal on her 50th game, making it 1-1.

Rangers threw the kitchen sink getting forward however and a ball into the box by the rangers captain Docherty found the head of Ewens to make it 2-1 before Rowe added a
third to see out the match.

A great display from the Jags nonetheless showing just how far they’ve come this season especially.

Strong Followings from the Red and Yellow army have helped our girls massively. We welcome our visitors from the capital to Peasy and need your support to keep us unbeaten at our home ground against Hibs under the floodlights.

🗞 Team News

The break last weekend allowed for a much needed rest and time for everyone to recover after a gruelling schedule. Shona Cowan remains a doubt as she continues her recovery from an injury suffered a few weeks back.

With that being said, it will be up to the gaffer and the rest of the management team to field the best possible side heading into this fixture with the chance to continue our undefeated streak at home against the Hibees..
