🆚 Our Opponents: Queen’s Park

Queen’s Park have had a change in fortune since we last went away to Ochilview as they’ve won one, drawn one and lost one. A superb win away on the road against Dundee United saw QP gain valuable points as they look to pull off a stunning survival attempt.

Thistle are unbeaten against QP this season with a win and draw in the league phase before the split. Caley Gibb and Tiree Burchill gave Thistle all 3 points at Peasy while a 0-0 draw in the final game of the regular season followed. We’ll be looking to grab all three as we approach this one.

📈Thistle so far

Thistle made the trip through to Dundee to face Dundee United with a clear goal in mind: win. It had been a difficult few months for the Jags and we knew that all three points there would be crucial.

The game did not start well for Thistle. A mistake from the defence saw a loose pass end up at the feet of Freya Brien who rifled it into the top corner to put the Arabs up 1-0 within 30 seconds. The lead wouldn’t last long however as Tiree Burchill worked hard and tussled with a United defender before slotting it past Beth Rennie in net.

Injury to Clare Docherty held up play for a while as she was forced off. A second would quickly follow after the restart as Carla Boyce latched onto a long ball and doubled our advantage. Captain Demi Falconer got on the end of a Georgia Gray corner kick to make it 3 shortly after before Cara Henderson scored the pick of the bunch for the fourth goal.

The second half saw the team at the foot of the table rallied in the second half scoring twice. However, Thistle managed to squeeze out a victory however, grabbing those crucial points and coming home to Glasgow with some much needed momentum.

Strong Followings from the Red and Yellow army have helped our girls
massively. Your support has not gone unnoticed by the players and staff alike.

A trip to Larbert awaits for a midweek fixture and we’d love to see as much
red and yellow in the stands as we can.

🗞 Team News

Jenna Ferguson made her first return to the Thistle matchday squad since suffering an injury in November and could see minutes here. Clare Docherty is ruled out following her injury in Dundee while a few girls will be assessed after leaving the pitch early on Sunday..

With that being said, it will be up to the gaffer and the rest of the management
team to field the best possible side heading into this fixture with a game
against Queen’s Park.
