Rangers have had a good season so far as they sit 3rd in the table with 48 points. With a top of the table clash between Celtic and Glasgow City on Friday night, Jo Potter will look to capitalise and bridge the gap between the sides as they make the trip across Glasgow to face Thistle.
Rangers are an outfit in free scoring form at the moment, scoring 104 goals in the league this season alone including a 10-0 rout of Aberdeen last weekend. Katie Wilkinson leads the charts with 29 goals while Laura Berry has 17 goals having recently returned from a loan spell at Motherwell where she had been firing in for the Lanarkshire side in her own right.
Our last fixture against Rangers ended 4-0 at Broadwood back in August on a tough day for Thistle. Both sides have developed and continued since then so it will be interesting to see what game is to be seen this Sunday at Petershill Park.
Thistle made the trip through to Edinburgh for a game against Hearts knowing it would be tough. The Oriam is a difficult venue to go through to and having known Heart’s home form we knew it was going to be a challenge.
The hosts dominated the first half with a flurry of offence, not allowing Thistle to make any chances. Hearts took the lead through Georgia Timms around 10 minutes into the match and looked to set the pace. Despite this, Jeni Currie pulled off save after save to keep PTW in the match, while Demi Falconer was commanding her backline well.
A change in formation followed in the second half while the introduction of a triple change brought a new approach from Brian Graham. Thistle began to create more chances and pressure Hearts some more before an Amy Bulloch corner found Carla Boyce who added another to her tally this season with a strong header to tie things level. Thistle were unlucky to snatch a late winner but ultimately the result ended in a draw ensuring a point came back to Glasgow with the Jags.
Strong Followings from the Red and Yellow army helped our girls massively last season and this season alike. Our final home game before the split finds a Glasgow derby and we’d love to see as many of you as possible.
A few knocks will be assessed before this match following the Hearts game however Rebecca McAllister looks ready to return to the squad while Cara Henderson and Ellie Kane continue to make progress with their injury struggles. Jenna Ferguson remains out with her injury.
With that being said, it will be up to the gaffer and the rest of the management team to field the best possible side heading into this fixture with a game against Rangers…
