Motherwell (A)

This Friday 9th December, PTWFC take on Motherwell Women at K-Park for a 20:00 kick off.

Thistle are off the back of a tough 4-1 defeat against Glasgow City in the SWPL1 a fortnight ago at Petershill Park in a hard fought and difficult game. Brian Graham’s women unfortunately were unable to take the 3 points in a game filled with controversy from the start and now look to move on from that loss and bring the fight to Motherwell in our next league fixture.

A win for Brian Graham’s side would move The Jags clear in fifth place after last weekends results as we look to gather momentum and get back to our fantastic form of the previous two months.

🆚 Our Opponents: Motherwell

Motherwell Women have had a good season thus far, picking up 14 points from a possible 33.

Having suffered defeat to the Jags already this season in miserable conditions, Motherwell currently lie in 7th place in the SWPL1, 2 places and a point below the Jags.

This is a game in hand from the rest of the division, with every team playing 12 so far while Thistle and Motherwell have played 11, and so it would be a huge 3 points for either squad.

In terms of club links, we welcomed several fan favourites of the Red and Yellow Army to the club from the steelmen over the summer. With the likes of Jordan McLintock and November player of the month nominee Claire Adams joining, they’ll be hoping to get another one over on their former club under the floodlights.

📈Thistle so far

A tough defeat in our derby against Glasgow city deflated our very impressive run up until then, however Brian Graham’s girls work ethic will certainly show no signs of letting it bring the Jags down. There were plenty of positives from the bizarre game that point out good signs for the girls as we look to regain our momentum.

Rachel Donaldson has earned a heap of praise in the last few fixtures she’s played in and it is entirely deserved. This praise hasn’t gone unnoticed as well as she received a nomination for the SWPL1 Player of the Month award for November!

Strong followings from the Red and Yellow Army so far this season have really helped our girls, and we’d love to see more of the Thistle faithful come along and make the trip to East Kilbride and support their Jags this Friday night at K-Park under the floodlights.

🗞 Team News

A nearly full squad again for the management team, with Megan Cunningham making her return after missing out against Glasgow City. Taylor McGlashan remains out with her ongoing injury problems however Brian Graham will hope to use all of the players to his advantage and take all 3 points back home.
