Partick Thistle v Raith Rovers – 9th September 2012

A 100% league record sees Thistle currently top the First Division but tomorrow afternoon attention shifts to the Ramsdens Cup and a quarter-final meeting with Raith Rovers at Firhill.
The Ramsdens Cup is not a competition that either side has done well in previously; indeed neither has contested a Final far less won the tournament.
Both naturally hope that that is all about to change this season and now that we have reached the last eight of the competition the glint of silverware is just that bit closer.
It’s a game that manager Jackie McNamara is looking forward to;
“The players have a real winning attitude at the moment. They want to win games in training and they obviously want to beat Raith Rovers on Sunday. Rovers were a bit of a bogey side for us last season, if not in terms of the passage of play then certainly in terms of results. We are keen to improve upon our record against them and keep our momentum this season going.”
In our last match against Hamilton Accies both Alan Archibald and Kris Doolan came off injured and the manager was able to provide us with an update on their progress.
“Kris Doolan is still struggling. By Friday he still hadn’t trained. We’ll take another look at him on Saturday and see how he is. Alan Archibald meantime did a bit of training on Thursday and we’re hoping that he will be okay.”
Those two players aren’t the only players on the injury list at present.
“Mark McGuigan is also out injured. Although he will miss Sunday’s game it’s nothing too serious. David Rowson is still injured. He did a bit of running on Thursday but missed training on Friday. That though was more to do with him feeling unwell than it was his injury and he did some work in the gym.”
Raith Rovers meantime have their own selection problems ahead of tomorrow’s game with goalkeeper David McGurn and defender Dougie Hill missing out due to suspension.
