Heart of Midlothian v Partick Thistle – 22nd August 2015

It was a disappointed Alan Archibald who spoke to ptfc.co.uk shortly after the full time whistle.

“I’m very disappointed with the team today. We were very, very poor. We know that Hearts are a good team but it’s disappointing that they won as easily as they did today.

“We set the team out with a game plan, and it just didn’t happen. We needed to work harder than them and put them under pressure and we just didn’t do it well enough.”

Neil Alexander was barely tested in the Hearts goal and Alan was clearly unhappy with the way his team had played creatively.

“I feel sorry for Kris Doolan as he wasn’t getting anything out of the defence. There was no service for him and it was a very long afternoon for him.

“We had creative players, who are key for the way we play and we didn’t get them on the ball enough and let them play. When they did get the chance to play, Hearts were on them veryquickly. “It’s disappointing not to be creative. We have to be brave on the ball and have faith in our abilities”Thistle return to action quickly with a home League Cup tie against Falkirk and Archie is keen to see the team put today’s bad performance behind them.

“The League Cup is a tournament we want to do well in, so we’ll be taking it seriously. We have to get back to the basics and start doing the things we are usually good at. We didn’t those things today and the scoreline reflects that.”
