Danny Devine was solid at the back as Thistle kept their third clean sheet on the bounce and recorded a 2-0 win over Hearts at Firhill
Goals from Kris Doolan and his fellow centre back Liam Lindsay won the three points and Danny was delighted with another good win.
Speaking after the game to PTFC.co.uk he said: “It was a big game, we knew it would be hard but I thought we performed really well and we were solid all over the pitch. I thought we more than deserved the three points.
“We knew they had a hard week. They had a poor result against Hibs and it was a tough game so we knew they would tire. We had our game plan to go out and get in their faces, press hard and play with a high tempo and it worked well.”
Devine admits it was important Thistle took advantage of a fragile Hearts and make sure the team started the game well
“It helped with the early goal, it settles us down and we limited them to very little. The second goal just sealed it for us and allowed us to concentrate on then keeping the clean sheet.”
The clean sheet was Thistle’s third in a row and seventh in the last nine games. The defender was quick to heap praise on the whole team for that
“It’s another clean sheet. I think as a back unit we are looking solid and defending well recently and credit must go to the players up top too because we are defending from the front and keeping our shape well.”
Next up is a trip to Dundee for what will be another important game.
“We now look forward to the Dundee game, they had another good result too but we go to Dens Park confident and knowing we have to get a result if we are to give ourselves a good chance of finishing in the top six.
“We know a win will take us above them and that’s a big incentive, we feel we have the quality to finish top six. That’s where we want to be and to do that we have to go to Dundee and get a result.”
