2021 has been a busy year of celebration as the Club commemorates the 100th anniversary of our 1921 Scottish Cup win and the 50th anniversary of our sensational 1971 League Cup success.
Despite the covid restrictions that have affected our lives throughout 2021, the club have remembered and celebrated these two significant landmarks through a number of different ways. Recently, we hosted almost 400 Jags fans at Hampden Park in a 1971 celebration lunch which will live long in the memory of all who attended. We’ve commissioned two brand new features, with a film premiere event at Firhill, to bring both cup journeys back to life so that all Jags fans, young and not so young, can remember the journeys taken by true Thistle legends. Thistle supporters have been able to snap up a range of memorabilia including two special celebratory first team strips, replica medals from both cup finals, commemorative books telling the road to the final as well as being able to purchase prints and posters of Ben Mosley’s outstanding painting “Thistle’s Titans”
As the year winds down, we have one last celebration for Jags fans to take part in with a brand new 1921 & 1971 exhibition opening in Firhill Stadium next week.
Our opening launch night will get underway at 7pm next Wednesday, 10th November. Members from the 1971 League Cup winning squad will be in attendance alongside club historians and staff to take you through the journey from both iconic cup wins with a range of memorabilia on show throughout the exhibition, including medals from both finals. You can round off your night by getting your photo taken with both the Scottish and League Cup trophies.
Our 1921 & 1971 exhibition is completely free to attend and will be open on two nights over the next couple of months.
Wednesday 10th November & Friday 10th December
A third night, which will include a book signing with Lorne Gardner for his newly released book “1971 – What a Sensation” will be announced when details are confirmed.
To allow us to prepare appropriately for next Wednesday night’s event inside Firhill Stadium, please email with the total number of attendees and names within your message. Places for the exhibition night will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
