1921 and 1971 anniversary celebrations

As all Thistle fans know, next year will be a very special one for the club as we celebrate landmark anniversaries of the club’s greatest triumphs – the 1921 Scottish Cup win and 1971 League Cup success, the latter which was 49 years ago today.

Early planning is under way to provide fans with a number of ways to join the respective 100th and 50th anniversary celebrations next year, such as through retail products, video features and special events, whether virtual or physical (depending on restrictions in place nearer the time).

We want supporters to be at the heart of these celebrations and will be in touch with more detail as plans develop. At present, our priority is trying to build up a stronger archive associated specifically with the 1921 Scottish Cup win – which clearly becomes more of a challenge with the passing of time given it was almost 100 years ago.

If you can help, in relation to the 1921 success at present, we’d love to hear from you. For example:

• Are you a descendent of one of the players or management team from that 1921 Final?
• Was a member of your family or someone you know at the 1921 Final?
• Further, we know a very small number of very lucky Jags fans were at both the 1921 and 1971 Finals – if this was a member of your family or friend of yours we’d love to hear from you.
• Do you hold any memorabilia from the 1921 Final or from family members of friends supporting Thistle at the time, whether scarves, hats, tickets, programmes or other?
