Partick Thistle Women’s FC are proud to announce that striker Abbie Ferguson has been called up to the Scotland Under-19 squad for their up coming double header against Albania and Lichtenstein.
Ferguson makes history as becoming the first player to receive an international call up while a Partick Thistle player.
18-year-old Abbie has been on fine form since arriving on-loan from Celtic during the summer, scoring 5 goals and assisting 8 times on Thistle’s run to finish in the SWPL top six.
Speaking after the call up Manager Brian Graham said: “We’re all extremely proud of Abbie, her hard work since she came to Thistle during the summer has got her to this point and the improvement in her since she arrived has been huge. As a coaching staff it’s been great to see her improve as the season has went on.
“Not only is it a proud day for Abbie personally but for us a club, being our first international call up is a historic moment and shows the direction the club is heading, hopefully she is the first of many”
Scotland Under-19’s travel to Albania to face two fixtures at the Air Albania Stadium in the capital of Tirana. First up is a match against the hosts Albania on Wednesday 5th April with a 1:30 kick off followed by a match in the same venue against Lichtenstein on Saturday 8th April with a 10:30am kick off.
