Following an unbeaten January, repeating that in February looked like a tough task with a difficult trip to Spartans, a cup game against SWPL2 high-fliers Queen’s Park and home games against Hibs and Rangers on the cards.
However, Brian Graham’s side were able to manoeuvre through another month without tasting defeat as they picked up three points at Ainslie Park, advanced in the Scottish Cup and earned handy draws against the Hibees and the Gers.
Now, it’s time to decide which Jag was the pick of the bunch and vote for your Adapt Commercial Property Player of the Month:
A January newcomer to the Petershill Park scene, Carla Boyce seemed to enjoy her first full month as a Jag. Making her full debut for the club in the Scottish Cup tie against Queen’s Park, Boyce got off the mark in her new colours at a vital time in the match – putting Thistle a goal up on the stroke of half-time. She followed that up with her first league start and goal in the away fixture against Spartans, heading home the only goal of the game as Thistle made it six wins from six in 2024.
Ava Easdon and Megan Cunningham have traded the starting goalkeeper position back and forth for much of the 2023/24 campaign but the on-loan Glasgow City ‘stopper played all four of the team’s games during February. Conceding just twice in that quartet of fixtures, Easdon’s standout display came against Rangers as she made a string of important saves to keep the league leaders at bay and earn a clean sheet.
With 15 goal involvements to her name heading into March, Cara Henderson has consistently been Thistle’s go-to in front of goal this season. Despite it being a relatively low scoring month for the Jags Cara was still able to make an impact, scoring the clincher in the team’s cup win over Queen’s Park before setting up Rachel Donaldson’s 84th minute equaliser in the league draw against Hibs which closed out the month for Thistle.
Another one of Brian Graham’s January recruits, Rebecca McAllister spent her February establishing herself as a useful option in Thistle’s ultra-competitive midfield. She earned her first start against Queen’s Park and was subsequently named in the starting line-up as Rangers visited Petershill Park. In a game where the away side dominated possession, there was a lot of work to be done and a lot of ground to be covered by those in the middle of the park for the Jags and McAllister, alongside Lucy Sinclair, did a fantastic job.
