Adapt Commercial Property PTWFC January Player of the Month

You’ll struggle to find a month in the history of Partick Thistle Women’s FC where more was accomplished than during January just past.

Last month’s list of achievements boils down to progression in the Scottish Cup, two important league wins which secured a second successive top six finish in SWPL1 and a momentous win over Hibernian which took the club to a first ever major cup final – an enjoyable 31 days all-in-all.

Now, it’s time for the difficult job of picking the Adapt Commercial Property Player of the Month award for January from the following nominees:

Demi Falconer

Three goals conceded in four games last month including a couple of clean sheets tells you that Demi Falconer was on form defensively in January, though that’s exactly what we’ve come to expect from the Jags’ skipper. Where she perhaps went beyond expectations was in our Scottish Cup tie against Motherwell at Petershill Park as she scoring a vital equaliser at the start of the second half before bagging the fourth goal to wrap up the 4-2 win.

Lucy Sinclair

With a slew of big games last month, Thistle needed players who could excel under pressure and Lucy Sinclair fits into that category perfectly. The midfielder put in a Player of the Match display against Hibernian in the Sky Sports Cup semi-finals which included the assist for the team’s second goal. She followed that up by registering two assists in Thistle’s away game against Montrose which confirmed our place in the top six.

Rosie Slater

Taking to her role in central defence like a duck to water, Rosie Slater has never looked as confident in Brian Graham’s side as she has over the past few months and that self-belief was evident in her two stunning goals scored against Aberdeen and Hibs. The first came out to her from a corner and snuck through a crowd of bodies into the bottom corner while the second was a magnificent left-footed effort flying across the goal from 25 yards into the far corner of the net.

Linzi Taylor

Producing a goal involvement in three of the team’s four games during January, Linzi Taylor played a huge role in Thistle’s win-filled month, particularly in the games against Aberdeen and Hibernian. On both of those occasions she scored the opening goal of the game, converting from the centre of the box against the Dons and then bending in a fantastic free-kick to break the deadlock against the Hibees.
