March proved to be frustrating month for Partick Thistle Women’s FC as they ended a disappointing regular season with a goalless draw against Queen’s Park before kicking off their post-split campaign with defeats to Montrose on the road and Aberdeen at home.
Their four-game April will offer the Jags a chance to bounce back and build towards a strong end to the season but for now it’s time to pick the Adapt Commercial Property Player of the Month from the following nominees:
Carla Boyce
The team’s top scorer was their only scorer of the month with her opportunistic equaliser against Aberdeen taking her tally for the season to nine. She also came closer than any other Jag to getting the decisive goal against Queen’s Park at the start of the month as good goalkeeping and the woodwork denied her attempts.
Jeni Currie
Earning her fifth clean sheet of the season in the draw against Queen’s Park, Currie had to make a couple of sharp saves late in the game to ensure the Spiders didn’t come away with all three points and, though ultimately in a losing effort, she kept her team in the game against Montrose with a pair of first half stops.
Demi Falconer
The skipper missed the first game of the month, against Queen’s Park, as part of her stem cell donation with Anthony Nolan but she returned to the team in Montrose. Winning the ball back 20 times and making six clearances in two games and being awarded sponsors Player of the Match against Aberdeen, her work at the back for Thistle didn’t prove enough to get any more points on the board.
Lucy Sinclair
Despite the team’s underwhelming fortunes in March, Sinclair was able to catch the eye with two positive performances against Montrose and Aberdeen. She completed 76% of her passes, made 15 interceptions and won 10 of 13 aerial duels in her two starts last month as well as creating five chances for her teammates across all three fixtures.
