May brought another incredible season to an end for Partick Thistle Women’s FC as Brian Graham’s side contested their final five games of the 2023/24 campaign.
Playing each of their fellow top six sides once, the Jags suffered defeat against Hearts, Celtic, Glasgow City and Rangers during a gruelling slate of fixtures but were able to earn a significant 3-2 win over Hibernian at Petershill Park; their first post-split victory in the top half of the division.
Now, it’s time to select the final Adapt Commercial Property Player of the Month from the following candidates:
Carla Boyce
Former Motherwell striker Carla Boyce had a telling impact on Thistle’s big win during May as she struck twice against Hibernian. Her first goal was as timely as it was impressive with Boyce curling in a right-footed effort to equalise moments after Hibs had opened the scoring and moments before the half-time interval. Her second goal of the evening proved to be crucial too as she put Thistle 3-1 up en route to a 3-2 triumph.
Emma Lawton
Named in the SWPL Team of the Year during April, Emma Lawton was keen to ensure her form didn’t trickle away as the season drew to a close. Performing admirably in a defensive capacity in tightly-contested games against Hibs and Glasgow City, the full-back continued to offer an attacking threat too as she won the penalty against Hearts which got Thistle back in the game and almost lead to a memorable comeback in Edinburgh.
Lucy Sinclair
Midfielder Lucy Sinclair featured in all five games during May taking her up to 39 appearances in all competitions during her debut season as a Jag. The bulk of her minutes this month came in the final trio of games as she played 242 minutes in the space of eight days against the top three teams in Scottish women’s football, showcasing the value of her work rate and endeavour in the team’s engine room.
Linzi Taylor
A perennially consistent member of the Thistle team, Linzi Taylor played 460 total minutes across the Jags’ five games in May. Needed in the both midfield and defence at various points, Taylor has been in direct competition with the SWPL’s best players over the past month and has stood up to each challenge fearlessly. With 28 interceptions and 53 recoveries to her name during May, her skillset was crucial to the Jags’ ability to stay competitive at home and away during the run-in.
