Inclement weather across the country meant that PTWFC didn’t complete their full slate of scheduled fixtures this month, but the team still got plenty done in the three games they did play across two competitions with a big three points secured on the road as well as a place in the Sky Sports Cup quarter-finals.
Key contributions came from all over the park but it’s time to chose the one standout who deserves the Adapt Commercial Property Player of the Month award:
Megan Cunningham
Thistle’s number 25 added another couple of clean sheets to her growing total for the 2023/24 campaign during October. Shutouts against Spartans and Hibs took her total up to six for the season with the latter of the two being particularly well-earned. For spells of the game at Meadowbank, the Jags came under significant pressure but Cunningham stood strong and made a few crucial stops on the way to a huge win in Edinburgh.
Demi Falconer
A perennial nominee for our Player of the Month awards, Demi Falconer continues to show an incredible level of consistency as part of the Thistle backline. Contributing significantly to the two back-to-back clean sheets, Falconer’s leadership was obvious in the victory over Hibs as the team dug deep to take maximum points against Grant Scott’s side.
Leah Robinson
Another vital cog in Thistle’s recent defensive efforts, Leah Robinson hadn’t started a game this season at the start of the month but ended up starting all three games in October. Making her return to the first XI for the cup win over Spartans, Leah did her defensive duties but also played her part in one of the goals as she made a tackle which started an attack and led to the Jags’ second.
Linzi Taylor
Thistle scored four goals during October and Linzi Taylor had a part to play in all of them as she displayed the full extent of her creative talents from midfield. Firstly against Spartans, she set up Cara Henderson for the opener before heading home the second herself and then against Hibs she teed up Lucy Sinclair to open the scoring and delivered the corner which led to the same player doubling the team’s lead. Her performances have earned her a nomination for the league’s Player of the Month award – becoming the second Thistle player to be put forward for the prize this term.
