Partick Thistle are delighted to announce that Aidan Fitzpatrick has signed a contract extension which takes his current deal to the end of the 2025/26 campaign, subject to SFA approval.
The Thistle Weir Youth Academy graduate is entering the second year of his current contract but after a string of impressive performances during the conclusion of last season, manager Kris Doolan has moved quickly to secure the youngster on a longer contract.
After a whirlwind debut season in the Thistle first team in 2018/19, form which earned Aidan a move to Norwich City, Thistle’s number 21 returned to Maryhill last season. Aidan’s Thistle career, over two spells, totals 77 competitive appearances scoring 14 goals, including three goals during our cinch Premiership play-off campaign.
Partick Thistle manager Kris Doolan said:
“I spoke last week about trying to tie down the assets at the club on a longer contract and Aidan’s extension is the first step in doing that. Aidan has an exciting future in the game and we all saw the form that he displayed in the closing matches of last season, including scoring three times in the high pressure games during the playoffs. He’s started pre-season strongly and I am delighted that he sees his longer term future with the club.
“We’ve completed a number of pieces of business over the last ten days including contract extensions and a couple of new signings. None of this would be possible without the support of the Thistle fans, through buying season tickets for the year ahead or by financially supporting The Jags Foundation to allow them to make the recent sizeable donation to the club. Thank you to everyone who is helping us to build something special together at Firhill.”
