During half-time in Saturday’s win at the Wyre Stadium at Firhill over St Johnstone we were delighted to view the presentation of the latest McDonald’s Maryhill Community Champion Award to Aiden Toner from the Partick Thistle Charitable Trust.
This McDonald’s Maryhill Community Champion Award recognises an individual’s generosity and compassion within our local community and was presented to Aiden for the fantastic attitude he displays to everyone he comes into contact with at the Partick Thistle Charitable Trust
Presenting the award was the trust’s CEO Fraser Cromar who said: “Aiden started his Charitable Trust journey a few years ago when he started taking an interest in coaching and the community, he quickly became a firm team favourite of the staff as well as the programme users at Petershill Park.”
“Although he’s a young lad (with huge size 13 feet) he’s an old head, recently when we had several members of the team absent he was first at my door asking and offering help, without any hesitation he organised all of the recent October holiday camps, from the lunch menus to the coaching schedule he had it all covered so the kids didn’t go without.”
“That’s just one example of why he is more than a coach, he’s a future leader and he does it with humility and the full support of everyone around him.”
“Without people like “Toner’’ we wouldn’t exist as a Trust, he adds value to the team but more importantly to the wider community every time he puts on the Thistle kit.”
