Partick Thistle FC is pleased to announce the signing of Alex Samuel on a one-year deal, subject to Scottish FA clearance, with the club holding the option to extend for a further season.
The 29-year-old comes to Maryhill having most recently been on the books of Ross County where he spent four years and played 64 times.
His senior career started in his native Wales, stepping into the first team with Aberystwyth Town shortly after his 16th birthday before joining Swansea City.
During his time at the Liberty Stadium he got his first taste of Scottish football during a loan spell at Greenock Morton where he scored four goals in 30 appearances.
A further temporary stint at Newport County came next before permanent stays with Stevenage and Wycombe Wanderers, achieving promotion to the EFL Championship via the play-offs with the Chairboys in 2020.
As previously mentioned, his last four years have been spent with Ross County, however, he did enjoy half a season on loan with Highland rivals Inverness in 2024 scoring a hat-trick on his league debut for Caley.
Thistle Head Coach Mark Wilson said:
“We’re looking forward to welcoming Alex to the squad here at Thistle – he’s someone who we think fits really well with what we’re trying to build.
“He’s had a superb footballing education having played at a good level in England and in the Premiership up here. His work ethic is through the roof so you know he’ll give whatever he’s got whenever he’s on the pitch.
“The last time he played in the Championship, with Inverness, he showed his scoring touch and we want to help bring the best out of him in front of goal with the attacking players we have at the club.”
