All at Partick Thistle were extremely saddened to learn of the passing of Thistle supporter Andy Greig at the age of 67.
A Maryhill man, Andy lived local to Firhill just a goal kick away from the stadium at the bottom of Firhill Road. A Jags fan throughout his life, Andy worked with the Club as a steward during his long time of following the red and yellow.
His interest in football wasn’t just confined to the Firhill terraces, indeed Andy was a keen and talented player himself. During a spell playing with Glasgow Perthshire Juniors, Andy took unwell on a trip to Canada, requiring an operation. With no health or travel insurance and a large bill to pay, Andy’s first love, Partick Thistle, stepped in to play a benefit match at Saracen Park to help raise funds, for which Andy, and his family, remained grateful throughout his life.
Andy’s funeral will take place on Friday July 1st at Maryhill Crematorium at 1:30pm for any Thistle supporter who would like to pay their respects. The cortege will leave his house at the bottom at Firhill Road stopping outside Firhill Stadium.
The thoughts of everyone at the Club are with Andy`s family and friends at this sad time.
