It hasn’t just been on the pitch that Thistle have strengthened their team over the course of the January transfer window, off the pitch we have welcomed a new commercial manager into the team at the Energy Check Stadium at Firhill with Graham Carbis joining the Jags.
The latest recruit to the Jags off-field team took the opportunity earlier this week to answer some questions to introduce himself to the Thistle faithful
Welcome to Firhill, Graham, tell us your first impressions of the club since you joined at the turn of the year.
Quite simply my first impression has been how much every single person has offered me such a very warm welcome, I really was taken aback by this.
You experienced your first Firhill matchday as commercial manager at the weekend – result aside, how was the day for you?
It was great to get my first taste of a matchday at The Energy Check Stadium At Firhill, everyone was very friendly and I was introduced to a lot of great people. Apart from the result, obviously, the day was superb from start to finish.
Tell us a little more of your background – what did you do before working at Motherwell FC?
After I left school I was an apprentice welder before I moved into sales with a big mobile phone retailer and I really got the buzz for this. I went on to become the sales manager in two massive companies before I got my lucky break as the business development manager at Motherwell FC.
Yes, before Firhill there was Fir Park, what did you learn from your time in Lanarkshire?
I had a fantastic couple of years at Fir Park, I took away a bundle of knowledge from my time at the club. This has strengthened my skillset and made me more determined to be successful at Partick Thistle.
On to Thistle – how much potential do you see at the club?
There is clearly massive potential in every aspect at Firhill. I am personally very excited about the future and looking forward to working closely with everyone.
Have you had a chance to meet with many of our current sponsors and partners?
I have met with and spoken to a good few of the club’s sponsors and partners so far. I have also arranged a number of meetings with more of them before the end of the month. Everyone I have spoken to wants the best for club. Partick Thistle has a lot to offer in return and it is a massive stage for businesses to be associated with the club and help develop their own brands.
What is your plan for the rest of this season and, indeed, preparing for next? Will there be much change, any new initiatives?
My plan for the rest of this season is to build on the new and existing relationships, while next season we will aim to grow our official partnerships, making them bigger and better and commercially doing what’s the best for Partick Thistle.
Do you have a message for Partick Thistle supporters, both those involved in businesses as well as the wider fan base?
I will put my heart and soul into the club and I will do my very best with every commercial aspect. Thank you very much for the warm welcome.
Finally, how can people get in touch with you?
Best bet is to email or contact me via the club on 0141 579 1971
