Ade Azeez is looking forward to the trip to Ibrox and hoping to turn performances into points. After good performances against Kilmarnock and Motherwell only resulted in draws, Ade is hoping for all three from the short trip across the City to face Rangers.
“We are looking forward to the game. We know we have played well recently but we know we have to start getting results. We feel we can do that on Saturday, we feel we can go there and get something.
“The manager has spoken to us and we know if we continue playing how we are then results will come, our luck will change but we need to make sure we do things right and continue to perform. We are competing in games and bar the St Johnstone game we have given teams a tough match. We have to take a lot from that”
Many will have Thistle as firm underdogs for the match but it’s not something that Ade listens to and he says the team will go there with absolutely no fears
“We go into every game with no fear. We feel we can go anywhere and get a result and perform well. It doesn’t matter who we are playing or who writes us off, we believe in ourselves, Ibrox will be a hard place to go but we will concentrate on ourselves and we’ll go out to perform and get a result.”
Ade put in an excellent performance up top against Motherwell on Saturday and all that was missing from his performance was a goal. He knows it needs to come but he is happy with his performances so far.
“I just need that little bit of luck, the ball to fly in off my shin or my back or anything, even if I don’t know much about it. I think as soon as I get that goal they’ll fly in.
“I would be more annoyed with myself if I wasn’t creating the chances or getting into positions. I would be annoyed if I wasn’t helping the team or doing my bit so I can be happy with that part of things.
“My confidence is high but I feel I need that goal to calm me down in front of goal. I want to score so much for this team and maybe I’m snatching at things trying to force it. I know I need to relax in front of goal and they will come. Fingers crossed that day is Saturday”
Ade had a big part to play in the goal on Saturday when he pressed the defender and forced him into a mistake for Chris Erskine’s goal, it’s something he feels is a good trait of the team.
“The gaffer wants to high press and I feel the philosophy they are putting on to us is starting to come through, even with the newer players like myself. We all work hard and when one presses we all press. I’ll press and David Amoo and Squiddy are right up there with me. We will carry on doing that and creating chances.”
Azeez is hoping to use the restlessness of the Rangers support to our favour. The Govan side are in the midst of a poor run of one point from three games and the striker is confident the team knows how to take advantage
“We know if we go there and start well then their fans might not be the most patient. That can certainly work to our advantage. We know they are in the middle of a poor run and we know they are vulnerable and we need to make the most of that. We have studied them and know their weak points so need to take advantage.”
With the Thistle end sold out Azeez is looking forward to the backing of a noisy supporting Thistle support who he says have been great to him since he arrived.
“We are going there and our fans have sold out their allocation, that is great knowing they will be backing us with numbers, they have been great since I got here and always supported us and I feel they always drive us on and I can’t wait to have them all behind us on Saturday.”
