Partick Thistle FC are pleased to announce the signing of Ben McPherson on a season-long loan deal from Celtic, subject to Scottish FA clearance.
The right-back arrives in Maryhill with a good amount of Championship experience already in the bank having spent the 2023/24 season on loan with Queen’s Park where he made 25 total appearances and 18 starts.
Capped by Scotland at under 16, 19 and 21 levels, Ben suffered an ACL injury towards the end of his temporary stint with the Spiders in a game against Thistle but has now fully rehabilitated and has been involved in a number of the Celtic first team’s pre-season games this summer.
The 21-year-old has been in Ireland and Portugal with Brendan Rodgers’ senior squad and has earned minutes against the likes of Cork City, Sporting CP and Newcastle United.

McPherson will already know two faces in the Thistle dressing room very well having played youth football at Parkhead with Ts’oanelo Lets’osa and Josh Clarke; indeed winning the Glasgow Cup alongside both in 2023.
Jags Head Coach Mark Wilson said:
“Ben is going to be an excellent addition to our squad here at Thistle. He fits in perfectly with the ethos we have here because of the energy and effort that he puts into the game and, having come through at Celtic, he knows how to use the ball too.
“Like Josh Clarke, it’s not his first loan at this level so he’s got a good idea of what to expect from the Championship but at the same time he doesn’t think he knows everything and is keen to keep learning and developing.”
