Ben Williamson joins the club on loan deal until January

Partick Thistle FC is pleased to announce the signing of Ben Williamson from Rangers on a loan deal until January, subject to Scottish FA clearance.

Williamson joins the club off the back of a title-winning season on loan at Dundee where he made 31 appearances in all competitions including 24 in the league.

That spell at Dens Park was a fourth loan spell for the midfielder having previously spent time at Arbroath, Livingston and Raith Rovers racking up nearly 50 league starts at Championship and Premiership level.

Now at 21 years of age, Williamson makes the move to Maryhill to bolster Kris Doolan’s midfield options in the midst of the Viaplay Cup group stages.

Thistle manager Kris Doolan said:

“Ben’s got a good amount of first team experience for someone of his age and spent last season as part of a squad that won the Championship so although he’s young, he’s someone who is ready to contribute now.

“He’s got lots of technical ability and from a fitness perspective he should be ready to go as he’s done a proper pre-season with Rangers. He’ll be involved in the matchday squad tonight as long as we get the clearance from the Scottish F.A. and he’ll travel with the side to Dundee tonight.

“We’ve said all along that we wanted to add the right players and Ben is one of the players we’d identified a few weeks back so to see the move come to fruition is fantastic.”

Williamson will wear squad number 22 during his time at Firhill.
