All at Partick Thistle Football Club were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of lifelong Jags fan Bobby Boardman on Friday, 17th July at the age of 86.
Born to George and Mary Boardman in June 1940, Bobby was brought up in Balornock and attended Albert Senior Secondary. After leaving school, he worked as a toolmaker and met his wife Helen whom he married in 1964.
He was taken to his first Thistle game at the age of six and would follow the club for eight decades with some of his personal highlights including the League Cup triumph of 1971, the back-to-back promotions of the early 2000s and the 2012/13 First Division title-winning campaign.
Bobby was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2016 and, having fought the affliction admirably for 10 years with a smile on his face, he passed away earlier this month surrounded by family at Meldrum Gardens Care Home.
The thoughts and condolences of all connected to the club are with Bobby’s family and friends.
Rest in peace Bobby. Once a Jag, always a Jag.
Funeral details:
Bobby’s funeral will take place this Friday, 7th August from 10am at Linn Crematorium, next to Netherlee on the south side of Glasgow.
That will be followed by a celebration of Bobby’s life at the Torrance Hotel in East Kilbride.
His family are encouraging attendees to wear something red and yellow to represent Bobby’s love of the Jags.
