Booth hoping to bounce back from cup disappointment

Callum Booth is hoping to put the disappointment of the cup exit to Aberdeen behind him and help lead Thistle to three points against Inverness at Firhill.

Booth knows three points will keep Thistle in pole position for a top six place which is now the big aim for the season.

He said: ” It’s a massive game, obviously we have been on a good run in the league and got ourselves into sixth place but now we have to stay there. A win against Inverness will help us do that.

“Inverness are fighting for their lives at the bottom of the table and we don’t want dragged into that battle so we have to make sure we are at our best to take all three points.”

Both the defeat and performance against the Dons were disappointing but Booth knows they have to put it behind them.

“The cup game against Aberdeen was disappointing, we didn’t put up a good showing unfortunately. However, we are confident we can bounce back and put that behind us.

“You never like getting beat so we want to go out and put it right and get back to winning ways straight away.

“We are out of the cup now so all our focus goes into the league and our aim of finishing in the top six. It wasn’t a great game and we didn’t play very well but there are a lot of positives to take from the last couple of months. We have played well and have been getting results so we are confident and looking forward to the game.”

Thistle have won the last three league games and the last two at Firhill, Callum is hoping to continue the home form.

“Our form at Firhill has been much better recently. We were conceding a lot of late goals at home at the start of the season but we are defending much better. We have back to back league wins at Firhill now and we want to  keep that run going for the home fans.

“Inverness are fighting and scrapping for everything, they’ve had some good results recently and our games have been close this season so we need to make sure it’s a positive score line to ourselves.”

Thistle hold a ten point gap over their visitors and hope to make that thirteen come Saturday night. The Thistle number three knows it’s important to grow that gap while still looking up.

“The league is so tight, although we are in sixth position we know we can’t relax. We have to keep ourselves up there. Three points on Saturday can open up a bigger gap on the teams at the bottom of the table so we know how important this game is and we know we have to get a result.

“We’ve got two massive games coming up before the international break. I know it’s a cliche but we have to take each game at a time. We concentrate on Inverness then we take the next game after that. We know it’s coming up to the split and you start looking at other fixtures but we have to concentrate on doing our business and other results will take care of themselves.”
