Brian Graham to step down as PTWFC Manager

When Brian Graham was appointed manager of Partick Thistle WFC on September 14th 2020 you could not have imagined the impact he would have on a team that had only been in existence for 4 years.

It will be a sad day then tomorrow afternoon when Thistle face Spartans at Ainslie Park and Brian Graham takes charge of Partick Thistle WFC for the final time, ending close on five years in the Partick Thistle WFC dugout.

In raw stats those five seasons in charge amount to 161 games, a step up to the topflight of the women’s game in Scotland, two top six finishes, a Scottish Cup Semi-Final and taking a Partick Thistle side to a first Cup Final in over 50 years with an appearance in the Sky Sports Cup Final, watched by over 2,000 Thistle fans,

In reality it’s about much, much more than those statistics.

It’s been about unbelievable growth. It’s been about an increased level of professionalism in fitness and preparation. It’s been about inspiring players to be the very best they can. It’s been about improving a number of players on to full-time football, It’s been about helping to introduce the women’s game to a much wider audience.

Brian Graham’s legacy with Partick Thistle WFC is assured, and as he steps down from a role that he has attacked with 100% passion and commitment and 100% integrity he does so with the profound thanks of us all.

Speaking after informing the squad after the midweek match against Queen’s Park which secured top flight football for a fifth season, Brian Graham said: “I made the decision in January that this would be my last season in charge of the girls. I’ve loved every minute of it but I felt it was the right time.

“We’ve been on quite the journey together and I think back to my first night at Lochinch to where we are now, established in the top flight and appearing in cup finals and i’m immensely proud of everything we have achieved as a club”

“I want to give a huge thanks to a number of people, firstly my family who have supported me, my coaching and support staff and the PTWFC board,  they have been there throughout and played a massive part in where we are at today, I couldn’t have done it without them.

“Most of all through I want to thank every player who has pulled on that Red and Yellow jersey, they have made me a better person, made me a better coach and given me some great memories, I will miss them all”
