From last summer and throughout season 2023/24, Thistle fans really stepped up to support the club. Season ticket sales were their strongest in years, home crowds increased significantly, and the red and yellow army continued to consistently back Kris Doolan’s side home and away, both in number and noise. That support was bolstered by some incredible fan-led fundraising efforts, in our first full season as a fan-owned football club.
In the course of the 2023/24 season, the Football Club and Youth Academy received just under £197,000 of financial support from The Jags Foundation. This phenomenal financial support from TJF members makes a huge difference, enabling the club to keep a competitive men’s first team on the park while building towards a longer-term path of sustainability.
At their Annual General Meeting, held on Thursday evening at Firhill, TJF members made a renewed commitment to support the club financially in the 2024/25 season. They will contribute a “pledge” of £12,500 per month to the Football Club and continue to pledge £2,000 per month to the Youth Academy. The latter, especially, ensures we can continue to bring through new talent and build on the recent successes of our Under 16s CAS League Cup winners. The Foundation has also committed to support the Partick Thistle Women’s Team with £5,000 this season, helping it to build on successes of recent years.
This kind of commitment is only possible because of the 1,695 fans who have signed-up to support TJF. Young and old. From Maryhill to Melbourne. Including Kris Doolan and Brian Graham.
The Foundation wants to do more to support the Club, by growing its membership to more than 2,000 during the 2024/25 season. Let’s surge past 1,700 today and home in on that number together.
We have also been working closely with The Jags Foundation to find ways to recognise the contribution made by its members and hope to have some positive announcements on this in the weeks and months ahead. But for now, we would encourage all Thistle fans to sign up to The Jags Foundation, and to be a part of a supporters’ association that is making a big difference at our Football Club.
TJF is one of the two trustees of the majority shareholder at Partick Thistle (the other trustee being The Jags Trust). They are both joint custodians of our fan-owned football club, and led the work on our Club-Trust Agreement, which puts major decisions in the hands of the fans.
