Partick Thistle are delighted to advise that a second former Jag received a Honour in the 2025 New Year Honours List.
Last week we congratulated former defender turned broadcaster Alan Hansen on his Member of the Order of the British Empire Award and today we would like to congratulate Calum Campbell on his Order of the British Empire for his services to Healthcare in Scotland.
Calum played with Airdrieonians before joining Thistle in August 1989 and he marked his debut with a goal in a 2-1 success at Clydebank before going on to grab 22 more goals in 66 further appearances ahead of stints at Kilmarnock and Dumbarton.
As well as his footballing career Calum, who graduated from the University of Paisley with a BA Honours degree in Health Studies and from Glasgow Caledonian University where he received an MBA, started working in the NHS as a nurse.
After a spell as a Health Visitor Calum moved into management and had appointments as the Chief Executive at NHS Borders for five years and various Director posts within Scotland and Wales before being chief Executive of NHS Lanarkshire for five years.
In 2020 Calum moved to become Chief Executive of NHS Lothian in June 2020, a position he retired from last summer.
With thanks to Partick Thistle Former Players’ Association chairman Andy Murdoch, Calum will return to the Wyre Stadium at Firhill as a guest in matchday hospitality – alongside Andy and others – for our game against Airdrieonians on Saturday 22nd February.
