Partick Thistle Women’s Football Club can confirm that Cara McBrearty has left the club to take a break from football.
A hugely popular figure both in the dressing and with the fans, McBrearty joined the club midway through the 2020/21 season and has lit up the park in Red and Yellow ever since.
Last season’s top scorer, Cara ended the season on 8 goals and her wand of a left foot added 13 assists before a successful season was over.
Cara McBrearty said: “It’s been a heartbreaking decision to make. I love this club and I’ve loved every minute of playing with this group of girls.
“I had said before the start of last season I was going to play for one more year, I’m at the stage of my life where I need a break, but I will miss pulling on that Red and Yellow shirt.
“I’ll be back along to games to support the girls and I will always be their number 1 fan”
Manager Brian Graham said: “We’re naturally gutted to be losing a player of Cara’s ability on the pitch but more so than that we’re sad to be losing Cara as a person from our squad.
“She has been absolutely brilliant since she came to the club. She has always given it her all and she lights up the pitch every time she steps on it whether that be a match or training.
“I want to personally thank her for everything she has given me over her time here and wish her every happiness going forward”
All at Partick Thistle would like to thank Cara for everything she has done in Red and Yellow and wish her all the very best for the future. You are always welcome back.
