Partick Thistle FC has announced a number of additions to its Board, with immediate effect, bringing further depth and experience to the Club ahead of the new season.
Joining the Board is Douglas Noble, a highly regarded business professional, with more than 30 years’ experience within the regulated banking industry (including corporate and private banking, wealth management and the investment sector). Douglas’s industry roles involved advising clients strategically on how to develop and grow their businesses, assisting them with everything from securing investment to operational management. Over the years, due to the personal nature of his work, Douglas developed strong relationship management skills as well as being well-versed in corporate governance and risk/asset management.
In addition to Douglas, there are two further appointments to the Board with Alan Rough and Michael Robertson rejoining the Board following an absence of more than a year.
Meanwhile, Charan Gill has stepped down after having initially agreed to an appointment until March 2020, which he extended to support the Club through the worst of Covid-19’s impact on Thistle.
Chairman Jacqui Low, thanking Charan and welcoming the new Directors said:
“It’s been a tough five months for everyone at the Club, including the Board. The challenges and decisions facing Directors have been unprecedented so I offer my sincere thanks to my colleagues for stepping up for Thistle. Charan stayed longer than he originally planned to see us through this period and for that we are especially grateful.
“The next season is a crucial one for us, on and off the pitch. A priority was to secure a new Board Director with significant financial experience as we move forward and we are extremely pleased that someone of Douglas’s calibre has agreed to join Thistle. It’s also good to have Club legend Roughie back along with Michael as both made positive contributions last time around.”
Douglas Noble added:
“The Chairman spoke to me about joining the Board well over a year ago but the timing didn’t work out. However, as a Director now, I hope to add value to the Club with my financial skills and significant experience in developing business as clubs face unparalleled times financially as well as on the field.”
