Partick Thistle Women’s FC is excited to announce that central defender Cheryl McCulloch has agreed a deal with the club for the 2022/23 season.
The Thistle number four joined the club in May last year as we returned for the second half of the SWPL 2 season.
The former Celtic and Glasgow City player swiftly became a key member of the Jags’ backline, forming an impressive partnership with Demi Falconer at the heart of the rear-guard, also occasionally featuring at full-back.
Her performances have stayed consistent into this season’s SWPL 1 campaign playing 29 games and scoring three goals including a crucial fourth in our Scottish Cup quarter-final win over Hibs and one in the subsequent semi-final against Glasgow City.
PTWFC manager Brian Graham said: “Cheryl is a big player for us and one of the standout defenders in the division. She has been consistently excellent this season even popping up with a few important goals and she puts her body on the line every single week for the team.
“Having her agree to stay for next season is massive for us and an important building block for the squad, she would have had a lot of interest from elsewhere, so it shows the type of enjoyable place we have created for the girls to come and play their football”
Cheryl McCulloch said: “I’m excited to agree to another season in Red and Yellow. Since I signed last season I’ve felt right at home here and enjoyed every minute of being a Partick Thistle player.
“It’s been an amazing season and we’ve all pulled together to achieve a lot in tough circumstances at times but I feel this is only the beginning for this team and club and I want to be part of that journey next season.”
