Chief Executive’s Programmes Notes v Arbroath – 23rd September 2023

To communicate and inform as many Thistle supporters as possible programme notes will be reproduced in full on ptfc.co.uk following a home fixture where a programme is produced.

Below are Chief Executive Chris Ross’ notes from Saturday’s match programme against Arbroath.

Welcome to the Wyre Stadium at Firhill for our cinch Championship match against Arbroath. We come into this match after defeating Ayr United by four goals to nil last Friday under the lights at Somerset Park and live on BBC Scotland – I hope you enjoyed the match as much as I did, wherever you watched it.

The men’s first team, led by Kris Doolan, are in great form on the back of three consecutive wins in the cinch Championship and will have to continue that fantastic level of performance if they are to overcome today’s tough test in Arbroath who have also won their last three. I’d like to extend a very warm welcome to all our visitors from Arbroath this afternoon.

Since joining Partick Thistle Football Club in July, I’ve been really encouraged by the clear and huge potential within the football club both on and off the pitch. We have fantastic staff, volunteers and fans at this football club and right now we are all focused on creating a culture that fosters success. I’ve now spent time with many of our key stakeholders and sponsors and I’m very proud to lead the football club off the pitch as we move forward with the support and guidance of the board.

There’s nothing like first team matches to understand what makes the club tick and appreciate just how strongly supporters care about Partick Thistle. Equally, events such as our annual Open Day and Sunday’s testimonial for Stuart Bannigan are great opportunities to spend time with Thistle fans and listen to what they enjoy most when following the club, as well as hearing things they believe we can improve on. Working together with supporters is the only way we can all drive the club forward – and I’d like to say a huge thanks to all Thistle supporters I have met and spoken to so far including at Sunday’s brilliantly organised testimonial.

Looking ahead, we still have hospitality spaces available across our remaining cinch Championship home matches this season, but they are selling quickly so if you are interested in a first-class match-day experience for you and your party, book with us sooner rather than later to avoid missing out. You can do so by emailing   If you have not already done so this season. Also, a reminder that you can visit our Aitken Suite and Club Shop on Firhill Road before the match.

Thank you to everyone who has supported the club already this season and I hope you enjoy today’s game.

Chris Ross.
