Partick Thistle Women’s FC is thrilled to announce that Clare Docherty has committed to the club for the 2022/23 campaign.
The Jags’ number eight has been a mainstay in the team since joining the club from Kilmarnock back in December 2019 and has now agreed a deal that will take her into a third full season in red and yellow.
Docherty was a standout during the 2020/21 campaign, earning a nomination for the SWPL 2 Player of the Year award as well as sweeping the annual PTWFC in-house awards.
An injury meant she missed some time at the start of the season just gone but Clare was quickly back in the team playing her part in our SWPL 1 efforts. She finished the term having made 30 appearances and scored five goals, including a winner away to Hamilton and the opener in our 4-2 Scottish Cup semi-final win over Hibernian.
PTWFC manager Brian Graham said:”We’re delighted to get Doc tied up again for next season. She’s a massive part of our team both on and off the pitch. She’s a big personality in the dressing room and has shown this season what she brings to the team.
“I’ve had to ask her to fill in a number of positions and she’s done a job whatever I’ve asked her to play however hopefully we’ll see her causing defenders problems at the top end of the park again next season and she can add to her great goal return for the club since signing”
Clare Docherty said: “I just love it here, I’m really happy to be back for another year with this club. It’s been a great two years already and hopefully there is more great moments to come next season.
“I had to play a few different positions last season and I’ll always do what I can to help the team, the team always comes first but I can’t lie, I’m aiming to get my top goalscorer title back”
