Following the statement on the club’s financial situation yesterday, we have been overwhelmed by the positive response from fans and the Partick Thistle family. Your support has been outstanding and we couldn’t be more grateful for your backing.
We are delighted to confirm that The Jags Foundation have committed to £170,000 of cash injections into the Club. £50,000 of this has been transferred immediately with the remaining £120,000 to be paid monthly between July and the end of the season.
Another party has committed to invest immediately with details to follow. We are currently holding conversations with other potential investors with positive ongoing dialogue.
Given the financial commitments secured, we would like to reassure employees and supporters of Partick Thistle that there are no immediate cash flow concerns as suggested in various media channels.
Changes to the club board are also imminent. We will shortly appoint an experienced professional, with a long history of supporting our club. The Jags Foundation will also nominate one of their Directors to join the club board ahead of the new season.
Duncan Smillie will step down from the board with immediate effect and will be replaced as interim chair by current Director, Alistair Creevy.
Alistair is a lifelong Thistle fan with over 40 years’ experience working in the Financial Services sector. After establishing his own independent advisory practice in 2003, the business grew to become one of the top IFA firms in Scotland, specialising in retirement planning. After 15 years of success, the business was sold to Succession Wealth Group in 2018. Alistair was appointed Director to Spectrum Wealth Group in 2023 and recently joined the club board in April 2023.
Alistair has committed to spend a significant proportion of his time working within the Club, as have other board members.
The Club would like to thank Duncan for his valuable input over the last four years. We are particularly grateful for his stewardship and strong commitment as Chair since December last year.
Once again, thank you all for your ongoing support. We will continue to update you following SFA approval of the proposed board appointments.
