Club update: Football Appointments

The board met this week to confirm the steps they are taking to deliver on their strategy for Partick Thistle Football Club.

In terms of strategic recruitment, the appointment of a Sporting Director has been identified as the club’s priority over the recruitment of a First Team Head Coach, and the process of having a Sporting Director in place is now at the interview stage.

Whilst we invest the time in selecting a Sporting Director, and having them in place, the board believes that the successful applicant should be involved in the subsequent recruitment of a new head coach as the pair will work very closely together moving forward.

This approach means that we are pleased to confirm that the interim management team of captain Brian Graham and under-18 coach Mark Wilson were asked to stay in their roles until at least the end of March and they have agreed to do so.

Chairman Richard Beastall said: “We remain committed to recruiting a Sporting Director to lead our long-term vision of becoming an established Premiership club who develop our own talent.”

“We are making this hire our priority and we are able to focus on this thanks to the positive impact Brian and Mark have had on the first team squad over the last two games. In highlighting the improvement in performances, it would be remiss of me not to thank both Craig Dargo, our Head of Youth Academy, and Ross Stormonth, the assistant manager of Partick Thistle Women’s Team who have also taken on additional duties.”

“We want to continue to support everyone’s efforts to attain a playoff position for the fourth season in a row as well as build a solid and sustainable future for our club.”
