After last weekend’s excellent 2-1 victory over Greenock Morton at The Energy Check Stadium at Firhill, Reece Cole feels that the mood in the camp is one of confidence.
Cole returned to the side from injury last weekend and he is excited about the Tunnock’s Caramel Wafer Challenge Cup quarter-final tie against Stenhousemuir coming up this Saturday.
Speaking to ptfc.co.uk he said: “It’s a match we are all looking forward to. Especially after last weekend and the result; we’ve all been flying this week. We’ve got a lot of confidence going into the game.
“I think the way last weekend went, winning the game with ten men and what we had to put in to make that happen, it’s given us that extra life and that little bit more belief. We have to take that into Saturday now.”
It’s a break from league action for the next two weeks with the match on Saturday followed up by a Scottish Cup tie against Penicuik Athletic and Reece is hoping it’s a chance to build momentum although the Englishman knows they can’t get too far ahead of themselves.
“It’s a cup game so we know we have to go out and win. We know the reward is a place in the semi-final and that is where we want to be, so we’ll give everything to make that happen.
“You see shocks in cups all the time, there is no way we’ll be going there thinking we’re the bigger team or taking anything for granted. We’ll go and treat it like any other game, one that we want to win.
“We’ve got a chance to build with the two cup games and go on a run of results that would really set us up for the league games after that. It could be massive to build some momentum and that is what we will look to do.”
The Jags number 12 spent a couple of weeks out injured but he was delighted to be back out on the pitch in the win over Morton.
“I’m feeling great. Back to 100% and hope I can to continue helping the team. It was brilliant being back out there on Saturday, especially when the crowd were like that, they were really noisy, and the support was amazing.
“It was frustrating being out, you want to try and help your teammates but I’m back now and it’s up to me to keep that jersey. I can only do that by playing well.”
The on-loan midfielder is enjoying life at Firhill so far and is hoping to make an even bigger impact.
“I’ve not got a goal yet so that’s what I’ll be looking to do next, if I can get one that can hopefully kick me on further and add more to my game.
“I’ve loved it, the boys have been brilliant with me since I came up and really welcomed me. I’ve enjoyed the battle on a Saturday, trying to help the team when I can and I want to do more of that.”
