This month’s Community Champion, presented by McDonalds Maryhill, is a lady who has spent more than two decades volunteering within Maryhill and the local community.
Julie McMillan has worked and volunteered at Shakespeare Youth Club for coming up to her third decade now. She always puts the young people attending before herself, and ensures they have a safe and warm place to attend.
On top of this, Julie runs many other groups such as parent and toddler groups and different youth clubs for different ages and stages.
Recently, Julie has played a massive part in organising the Maryhill Festival and continuing to do great work at the “Shakey.” They recently took the young people on a residential trip which everyone loved and are looking forward to their forthcoming Breakfast with Santa event which Julie played a key part in organising.
Amongst the 101 things Julie is already currently juggling, Julie is also making special plans for the Youth Club’s 100-year anniversary in 2023. Working alongside her dedicated team, Julie is trying to plan a special event that will commemorate the club in the right ways.
Without Julie, the Maryhill community, and the Shakespeare Youth Club, wouldn’t be what it is today.
We’ll be welcoming Julie to Firhill tomorrow as our McDonalds Maryhill Community Champion.
