Some of you may have heard a very special announcement at the game against Stranraer on Saturday which revealed that the Partick Thistle Community Trust has been named the Scottish FA & McDonald’s Regional Award Winner in the category of Best Disability Project for its Frame Football Project.
The award was handed over during a ceremony at Firhill before Saturday’s match.
Paul Kelly, Community Trust Manager, said:
“It is absolutely brilliant to be recognised for this award. The work that has gone on to make the project such a success has been superb and it is fantastic to see that hard work rewarded.
“The Frame Football project was developed when Frame Football Scotland approached us asking for assistance in developing a service for frame footballers to participate in physical activity within the local community.
“Our pilot phase returned some remarkable results, with beneficiaries themselves and parents expressing amazement at kids actually standing without the aid of a frame and others developing softer skills of increased confidence and socialising to a level they have been unable to achieve in the past. As well as improving mobility and well-being, the benefits of peer support through football activity were evident.”
