We are delighted to announce that Dan O’Reilly has signed a contract extension with the club, keeping him at The Wyre Stadium at Firhill until summer 2027 with an option to extend that further also in place.
The central defender has played every minute of our 14 competitive games so far this season, the only Jag to do so, contributing to five clean sheets and scoring two goals.
Dan’s Thistle journey began last January when he signed for the club following a short spell with Raith Rovers though gametime was limited in his first few months in Maryhill due to a minor injury.
That changed during the 2024/25 campaign as he became a regular starter, formed a steadfast defensive partnership with Lee Ashcroft and eventually found his scoring touch too – finishing the season with three goals to his name.
A fans’ favourite thanks to his supreme dedication, the Thistle faithful showed their appreciation to the Irishman by voting him as the club’s Player of the Year in April.
Thistle Head Coach Mark Wilson said:
“Dan has been an absolute pleasure to work with since I stepped in to be part of the management team in February and I’m over the moon that he’s signed a contract extension with us today.
“He’s the definition of a consummate professional with the way that he looks after himself and the way that he trains each day and it helps to make him one of the most consistent performers we have here at the club.
“His attitude is first class as well and he’s exactly the sort of player and character that we want to have here at Partick Thistle.”
After signing the extension, Dan said:
“We’ve been in talks for the last while. Obviously I’m very happy here – I feel like it’s my home now and I feel like the club’s going in a really good direction.
“I’ve grown as a player and as a person since I’ve been here and I want to keep doing that. We’ve got a great group of lads and the Head Coach has been really good with me as well so I’m delighted to be a part of that.”
