With a brand-new era for Partick Thistle Women and a new SWPL season approaching, newly appointed head coach David Elliot has reflected on his short tenure at the club, which began late last season, and is setting the stage for the challenges ahead.

Building on a brief spell working alongside his predecessor, Brian Graham, following his appointment as head coach in June, the former Thistle man is eager to apply what he’s learned as he starts a new chapter.
Reflecting on his initial involvement, Elliot shared, “I came in towards the end of last season and helped Brian before he moved on. I knew a few of the girls already
“My idea was for change, bring new blood in, and the enjoyment back to the women’s team.
With this vision in mind, and after a tough 24/25 season that saw the Jags miss out on a top six finish, the club has undergone a crucial summer rebuild ahead of the 25/26 season.
Following the departure of several key players, who played pivotal roles in Thistle’s successes. The club has remained active during the summer transfer window, recruiting talent from across the country and re-signing current squad members for the upcoming long season.
Reflecting on a tough and long pre-season, club captain Demi Falconer has spoken about the importance of helping new signings settle in within the squad.
“Being captain, you have got to try to integrate everybody, but the squad are really good at talking to one another and making sure the players feel welcome”.
Falconer was full of praise for her new teammates. The captain stated,
“We have got a lot of new faces, but they’ve hit the ground running when they have come into training and slotted in very well.”

Looking ahead to Partick Thistle’s opening match this Sunday against SWPL2 champions Hamilton, manager David Elliot has spoken to the media about what he expects from the game and the season ahead.
Elliot commented, “Hamilton will be a tough test for us. Newly promoted teams in any form of football always want to show the club they’re playing against that they should be here, so it’s a really tough one.
“But it is a really good test; there is no easy game in this league. We need to be 100% all the time. We are looking forward to the trip to Hamilton.”
The two sides last squared off in 2023, with Thistle taking all three points in a 3-0 victory. at the Wyre Stadium at Firhill.
